I don't see why everyone thinks this is so shallow. I even asked for "faked compliments" and yet I received some kind messages from strangers and met some new people. You guys need to stop being so cynical... =P

I did it the second that the event message came up. I mean, I don't talk in a lot of forums, but I do talk in pm's a lot. I think it's nice to send out a message -- even if it's being done because of the oske, it's what the message says. Just a random 'hi i like your art', obviously is fake, but if you go into detail about what PART of the art it makes it personal and shows a bit more of an effort -- it makes it slightly more sincere. I received a message earlier, personally, and even if it's just for the contribution event post, I felt GREAT. Any appreciation for anything is always welcomed -- by bribe or not. So, I agree with the above statement. Just because we stick the characters down there doesn't mean we're ALL being selfish -- Maybe this is just a good kick in the pants to tell that special artist or someone how much you appreciate them discretely. - Pande

I want to PM someone! But I'd like to find someone to actually compliment and mean it instead of just saying something random that I don't really mean. I should hang out in the forums more 'cause I have no idea who to send a message to.

I'm a little annoyed by reading some of these posts. If you're not comfortable sending a message because you think it's petty, then don't do so. But to assume that everyone who is sending a message is *only* doing it for selfish purposes is a bit out of line. Sure, I'll bet there are several members sending very vague "U r awesome" PMs in order to cash in on the oskes, but there are several of us who are too shy (I'm scared as hell) to randomly PM a stranger. This gave me the kick in the pants to do so, and the person I did PM, I sent a personable message from the heart - something I meant to do so a long time ago. This was someone I admired, but didn't have the courage to tell them so until now. :/
