December's Monthly Pet Contest starts!

Contests

It's that time again--time to get your entries in for the monthly pet contest! Head over to the BP shop contest to submit your lineart edited winter-themed pets or the GP shop contest to submit your editless winter designs! Remember, winners are rewarded with SP, so get going!

Also, I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of a few things:

Firstly, the new BP shop breeding coins--the Half a Lesser Breeding Coin and the Metal Breeding Coin--do not allow you to breed hybrids or other rare species. That means no Lunaris or Flux--if you've already submitted a MBC or HLBC breeding with one of those, your breeding will be refunded shortly by Frey.

You'll also be refunded if you've submitted a MBC breeding involving pets with over 5% lineart difference. If you're unsure on whether a MBC breeding is okay, don't hesitate to ask me over at the What color crystal should I use? thread.

Additionally, I'd like to remind you all that Halloween Potions and Metal Crystals do not allow edits. That means no transparent pets or body parts, no anatomy tweaks, no glows, and no removing any of the edit layers on the Halloween pets (such as the moss on the Melo's hat or the sparkles around its feet). If you want to do something creative and are wondering if it counts as an edit or not, don't be afraid to ask about it in the crystal thread!

The more I think of this, the more it seems like an attempt to temporarily shorten the breeding list. I've waited for at least two weeks for two breedings that will probably not go through at all due to this new addition to the rules. After looking through the news post and the descriptions of the coins, I found nothing about rare species, only hybrids. :/ I'm sorry, but this way of handling things seems like something from Neopets, and I would have expected better from here. This never was a rule, and it would be way better if you had said that you were changing the rule and allowed those of us who submitted the rare species breedings to have the breedings we submitted, as they were allowed by the rules, and made it so that no one who submitted one after this post could breed them, as it would be against the new rule. Because calling this a reminder is laughable at best.

The funny thing is that the reason for this rule is to keep the economy balanced. Lunaris are supposed to be rare and valuable--something to be given out as a prize and to be really worth something. Not something you can get "custom" of for 10 GP a piece in basically unlimited quantities. This would completely destroy their worth. They're also just about the best thing you can get without spending GP and one of the only pet species that has hasn't become devalued yet. Also it makes no sense to be able to breed a single Lunaris for 10 GP when they only produce one baby from from LBC breedings anyway.

I'll ask Slash about perhaps allowing those who has already submitted their breedings before this news post went up to keep their breedings, though. :/

I've assumed this whole time that those coins were only for normal pets, even if it was missed in the description. I could've swore I seen someone say somewhere that the coins were meant to breed pets that would normally produce 2 offspring...I just don't know where. ;_; But based on that, I've thought this whole time that that's what those coins were for.

Why does transparency count as a lineart edit? o_o;

Transparency is considered an edit because, while some types of transparent pets/body parts might not cause problems, allowing it on Metals leaves too many loopholes for abuse.

Where do we find the bases for the Halloween potion pets?

Thanks for asking, Skitty. ..'; I'd understand wanting to keep the prices from falling, but it just seems really unfair to tell no one about a rule or mention it somewhere other than the news post and expect everyone to know it was a sort of unmentioned rule. The HaLBC breedings only give one pup, anyways. And I understand if I'm seeming rude or something, it's just that I'm so excited to see a pair of breedings come in, which are a vion and a lunaris respectively, then learned that it was against the rules to breed certain species, despite it saying nothing in the news post or item descriptions.

same as erik...I was super excited about my gemini and libra lunaris breeding, and checked the first news post at least 5 times to make sure it only mentioned hybrids where not allowed, only to now find out in was an "unspoken rule" to not have uncommon species?
