ToS Reminders & Hiring New Mods!

Rules

Pumpkin.gif

Hey everyone! We hope that you've been enjoying all the festivities and item releases this month, but alas, we have a couple of important reminders for you. Having reached the 10k member milestone, our community is rapidly becoming larger and we want to make sure that we don't lose the best parts of it along the way, so listen up.

Due to the rise in reminders and warnings related to rudeness, flame-baiting and harassment, we would like to take this opportunity to remind you that you are on a private, mature website that demands appropriate behavior. When you signed up for Aywas you agreed to abide by the ToS, and as such you are expected to be respectful at all times to your fellow player as well as staff. If you choose to participate in Rants or Discussion & Debates, please review the corresponding stickies here and here to ensure you are utilizing them correctly. After all, they are there to help!

The only thing rudeness, sarcasm and passive-aggression accomplish is that they reflect poorly on you, and unfortunately it's infectious. In order to keep this issue from snowballing into a huge problem, we're intervening now. Staff will be more present on the forums, especially in controversial threads or topics that tend to produce heated fights, so as to keep the mob mentality at bay. Similarly, if you experience any harassment or other rule-breaking behavior directed at you through PM or profile/pet comments, please report it immediately. Even though we're not adding any new rules we wanted to alert everyone to this trend and what we're doing about it in hopes that you will be more mindful of what you post and how you act. After all, each of you contributes to the community, so this is primarily in your hands, and we want to encourage you to be proactive. We're only having issues with a marginal number of people, but we'd like it to be as small as possible, and reminders never hurt.

Secondly, I want to give you a tiny refresher course on some other aspects of the ToS that keep snagging people up.

- You are allowed to have ONE account on Aywas; this means you can only access one account (except during a two-week moving period), so you cannot account sit for someone else. If you want someone to do your dailies while you're away, it needs to be a friend or relative that does not play Aywas.

- We don't tolerate art theft; tracing designs, using site colors as custom bases and taking avatars that don't belong to you (and aren't free use) is unacceptable.

- "All glitches or bugs that allow a user to unlawfully gain BP, GP, Aywas and items must be reported directly to the administration through 'Reports' and not listed in the forums."

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! We would much rather have you ask a question about a rule you aren't sure about than go forward anyway and end up getting a knock at your door because of it.

If you're interested in keeping the site a fun, enjoyable safe haven, then you're in luck because we are once again putting out the call for new moderators! We are confident that a larger staff will not only help us patrol the forums more thoroughly, but will ensure that someone is always available to help you. To apply, fill out the moderator application here and send it to [email protected] for Aetheria and I to review. We look forward to expanding the team and can't wait to read them. Good luck!

Thank you, cheers!

Hmm, it says hiring mods. Does this imply that mods get paid (ie: gp/bp ect)?

I may have been holed up under a rock or something but I haven't noticed rudeness, flame-baiting and harassment happening at all. In fact, most have gone out of their way to avoid negativity.

@Kotat- mods don't get paid, it's a strictly volunteer position. However, to get the position, an application must be submitted and then reviewed by the Admin, hence the use of the word 'hiring.'

I saw pumpkins and got excited : (
For the record, I have ONE account. So does my husband. He just doesn't play near as much as me.

@ switchblades: This isn't just a forum thing, it's site-wide, which includes PMs and profile/pet comments, which we have been having issues with. But you're right, most people are great, we just thought a general reminder would keep everyone on the same page.
