Pets
Hey, got a question. Currently, we usually have one "aywas" species for a group of creatures -- EG: Melo (mammals), Soli (reptiles). Would you want more species available that are more specialized, like snakes and cats?
If so, do you want them explore-able, or just custom only?
Oh, I should have some new human avatar clothes for you soon. :) Our artist also heard you guys want facial hair for the HAs, so we'll be working on that too.

I don't think we need them, but if we must have them then please don't make them official pets. I can live with them being bases for custom designs but we don't need more creatures - we have lots to even be released properly yet (Ara pets, for example, as explore pets in Ara).

At the very least, we need a basic cat and dog species. Because those are super popular for OCs and at the moment, just about everyone who has those is relying on the Melo. That's why the Melo revamp has caused tension--previously, the art was shoddy enough that it wasn't very obvious what it was supposed to be. The art upgrade made it more obvious what it was supposed to be (a cute puppy/cat thing) and now some feel it's too cute for their serious business characters or too (wolflike/catlike) for their (cat/wolf) characters. By having a designated, easy to acquire canine and feline species, I think we could abate some of the tension as well as make people who never found the melo to be an adequate (canine/feline) in the first place happy.
As for other species, I'm not sure we need 30 types of everything--the Reve and the new Phoenix I think are sufficient for birds, for example. I'd like a couple more insects (like that moth pet from the pet design contest *hint hint*) and some variety in sea-creatures (octopus/cuttlefish for Gael x Phanto hybrid?), and say, a mouse/bear/rolly polly plantigrade animal pet, because that's an animal niche that's not really filled by anything else we have. But yeah, mostly I think we're good.
...That was kind of all over the place, wasn't it?

I think that kinda defeats the purpose of SCC. There's usually SCC custom pets of Dogs, Horses, etc... So if you add species that are more specific to a certain animal, it might cause problems. And I agree with Eveglori. It all might be different poses, but still...

All in all I think it's a lot of money we'll be spent on asking the artist to do one of every type of animal requested because I think there will be a lot of requests and most of them unique to each other. If a limit is put on how many 'base' pets there can be then people who don't get what they want will be annoyed, especially those who believe what any of the animals chose could be done on an existing pet base with minimal edits. Then there's the issue of how many people will even USE a particular pet base that has been requested, which then comes down to how fiscally - and hassle - worth it is this idea?
