On Baby Predicts...

Pets

I want to address a problem I've seen when it comes to user-submitted offspring. There has been a great deal of discussion on the forums about this, and upon thinking about it has prompted me to change a few rules when it comes to the babies that users submit for their own breedings.

From now on, I'm going to be a lot harder on picking offspring and in what I accept for valid user-submitted offspring. Lately it's been a trend that I see more offspring that end up as clones of one parent and nothing else. It's beginning to become a problem because of what the breeding staff and Aywas has in place when it comes to offspring standards. So please note the below, as it will also be added to the thread in Breeding Chat:

Offspring that are not a clear mix of the parents will be outright rejected by me and you will receive a PM saying you must change the predictions to be reviewed again. This includes the following that will not be acceptable from hereon out:

- Four predicts that use the base lines of one parent with small edits/color changes pulled from another parent

- Four predicts that combine every single edit/most edits from each parent into one offspring, with small color changes or minute variation between the offspring. Alternately, four predicts that have one particular edit run throughout every single predict. Such as a mask or a set of wings that every predict has, when it is plausible that one offspring may never get those wings or mask because of the second parent.

- Four predicts that pull from tiny colors on the parents to make entirely new color changes and bases. An example would be a small splash of red on one paw on a parent that does not occur anywhere else to make an entirely red recolored offspring. Also not being accepted is pulling color from the eyes or from edits like necklaces, bracelets, etc. You can still make predicts with colors if they would easily/readily mix, though, such as a red parent x a blue parent = some shade of purple in the baby. Alternately, if you can make that color in an overlay/filter (I will be checking if I'm not sure) that is also allowed.

- Four predicts that favor only one marking/pattern on the parent throughout all predicts, and barely includes any of the other parent's markings.

- Predicts that otherwise don't look like a good mix of both parents. I'll be addressing issues as they arise.

Remember that the point of breeding and offspring here is to make good mixes of the parents to result in offspring that are mixed, not just parent clones. This affects all predicts submitted from hereon out; any already on the board or that were submitted prior to this newspost are unaffected and will be treated as normal… but I'll be watching your predicts more closely from now on. I was more lenient until I received many complaints about the way predicts were handled. The above was just what I found as glaring issues, which is why that last point covers anything that I deem unacceptable from now on.

If you have any questions/concerns, please do PM me or post as a comment and I'll address them. Thanks!

well im not affected by this cause i do my predicts by user requests. if they request eh eye color to be used or the jewelery color to be use then fine i do what they ask. so my predicts are all on what people want unless i have freedom. otherwise than that i have nothing other to say

it not the predictors fault. it just what people want

Gr. I wanted to do a site pet x a custom and I was okay with that as long as I got one edit from the custom but that's going to be tricky now ;-;

WHOO HOOO! One thread CAN make a difference, rofl. xD

Also, these are awesome changes, I fully support Frey. If you need help, you know where I am. *happy*

And Griffin, let me say: this is NOT retro-active, and unless I'm high (I'm not) I believe Frey has stated that the staff breedings are to be affected also. :D

This is a very fair decision. I'm glad the changes are set into motion.

I'm glad this was changed too, I try to get a fair amount of both edits in predicts from the parents.

Does this also count with predict whose colours make no sense?
Ie: White + black = red?

It bothered me to no end when someone would say breed an edited pet with a site pet and use all of the edited line changed, but no site pet ears/face/tail/etc.

So thank you for changing this. :3

It seems that the offspring should be a random mix of the parents. the artists have their standards. So that should be what they use to create the offspring. If I want certain traits to come up then I should have to breed the parents till I get the traits I am trying to produce.
