Zombie A-chomp-calypse Conclusion

Site Update

After a few days worth of battle, the Spoopy Mansion has finally been boarded up so that it can be deep cleaned to remove any lingering green particles, and so that no one has to deal with that unbearable, gassy smell.

"Okay, it seems like everyone is back to normal now," Querel said after ensuring that no one was particularly green or gooey. "I guess I should say sorry; I didn't give you as potent a vaccine as I should have to make you completely immune because we needed the show to go on for a little longer."

Seeing some confusion on a few faces, Querel continued speaking. "So, I'm sure you all know that Greta and Aketch have been a little different ever since that candy fiasco they pulled. Well, we had our suspicions over what happened, but we couldn't really... prove anything, y'know? At least, we wanted to be careful about it, since we didn't know what they would do if we acted too soon."

With all eyes on him, Querel took that as a sign that everyone wanted to know more. "It seems like those two were enthralled by the chaos all of you created, and so we were able to get the upper-hand on them. Tech was able to place a tracker on them, and he went with Miksa to track them down. I'm sure wherever they're going, that's where the real Greta and Aketch are."

Even after that explanation, everyone seemed to be waiting expectantly. "... This isn't about a 'reward' or 'prizes,' it is?" After a bit of clamoring from his audience, Querel sighed deeply. "Okay, okay..."

The top 10 participants will receive a Gold Zombie A-chomp-calypse Trophy, regardless of which team they were on! The next top 25 participants will receive a Silver Zombie A-chomp-calypse Trophy, and everyone who posted at least ten times will receive a Bronze Zombie-A-chomp-calypse Trophy for their participation!

Additionally, we have some "team based" achievements for those who posted 10+ times!

We know that this event was a bit different in comparison to our usual events, but we hope that everyone enjoyed the change of pace and perhaps even made a few new friends! We will take into consideration the feedback thread that was created, and due to various instances of unsportsmanlike conduct, we will also reevaluate how we handle those cases in the future so that the events remain fun for everyone. The story will continue during our winter festivities, so please look forward to it!

I did not participate because when I attempted to join I was not allowed to participate. Tried several times, oh well, maybe next time

I had lots of fun, I think that was the most I've ever posted. I have social anxiety so it forced me to participate in forums in a way that I don't do normally. Also I just liked being a zombie and posting rubbish hahahaha

i think i have to agree that having all the relevant info easily accessible in one place for events is ideal, and that this wasn't necessarily intuitive for everyone. what may seem obvious to some people or even most isn't always clear to others! the event looked fun, but i didn't really know what was going on x-) hoping next time i'll have time to jump in and figure things out! and congrats to all the winning participants!

I have to say as someone who only visits here casually now, I had almost no idea what to do during this event. I patiently waited for a "news post that explains it all" according to another mod on the forums. It never really came and I continued to be confused. I tried to join in but ended up getting messages from users instead only leading to more confusion. I'm sure if I took more time I could figure it out but yeah, I spent most my time on another site after I finished collecting most the pets from the adventure earlier in Nov. Looking forward to the coming holidays.

Alifya (#30805) Thanks so much!

I do agree that some things weren't fully explained, especially since this was a rather short event. Possibly the Aymas part will be longer and maybe have a comprehensive news post on how participation works. I was able to pick up on the mechanics very quickly [no wonder I took top spot], but not everyone else could, leading to confusion. Hopefully that can be worked on before the Aymas part starts

Figured it's good to give feedback, and prefacing this all with I loved the idea and I think it's good to stretch out and try new things.

I found it all very confusing, and I felt very awkward trying to find a place to post and start participating in general. It felt very social/rp based, and that's something that can be really difficult for people like me (aspergers) to understand what's alright to do and how to get started. You can't account for everyone, but it was a lot to try and understand with what seemed like very little guidance.

I kept visiting the site sort of hoping there would be more information somewhere, or some encouragement that you didn't need to rp or something similar, since it seemed like the bulk of people were playing it fully as an rp and it felt really awkward to try and figure out.

I ended up not participating at all because of a lack of confidence in what was going on, and confusion over the event in general and a lack of understanding on what was considered acceptable or not in general. It's a great idea, and I wholeheartedly applaud it in general and I don't want feedback like this to be a discouragement. More hoping that maybe this can be considered in the future, as you have a lot of users similar to me that struggle socially and with severe social anxiety and need a little more guidance.

I'm really not a competitive person. I'm much more of a support type. I was happy to splash anyone who wanted to be splashed but it's not in my nature to go "attacking" people who clearly enjoy being infected. I also did not appreciate feeling ganged up on or attacked. I didn't like that I tried to create a healing thread, only healed a point per post, had to wait to post more, gave up, went to bed, and came back to find that I had been turned and was completely infectious. When each post, with a countdown timer, only heals a point of health but every attack does 3-5 damage, it's impossible to keep up with yourself. ESPECIALLY because they could use gas in healing threads. It felt completely unbalanced.

I did try to remind myself that it's just a game and I'm meant to be having fun but I can't just talk myself out of feeling a certain way. It was an emotionally upsetting experience. It was redeemed by being online at the same time as other people who splashed me and got me feeling okay again. I know, I know. It's just a game. I don't play games for the skill or challenge. I play them for emotional investment and story. Fighting games are not my cup of tea. If there was a way to stay on my side and help my teammates and not feel completely helpless and overwhelmed that would be great.

I had no clue what was going on, and so I did not participate. Maybe make a newspost that outlines what we are supposed to be doing, instead of "lol just figure it out on your own". 🤷‍♀️
