Site Update
We said we would be back for your input on some big changes, so here we are.
We've been making many short-term changes to breeding lately, namely in the withholding of Coins until the queues die down. However, there was one aspect that we didn't touch on at the time as we were still working to gather ideas on how we could compromise between fairness to the userbase (you guys!) and to everyone working behind the scenes on the breeding panel.
So now, let's discuss breeding pendants.

Unfortunately or not, depending on where your opinions lie, Breeding Pendants are going to have to change. However, we wanted to let everyone share their voice and opinions on the matter. We've come up with a few ideas that we think you'll like!
Pendants become predict-only, but the regeneration time is reduced. This means that Pendants will work as Half Breeding Coins, but will have a faster regeneration time than they currently do.
Pendants have their regeneration time doubled. For instance, Breeding Pendants currently have a 3-month cooldown. If this option wins, that time will be doubled to a 6-month cooldown, and so on as applicable for each Pendant.
Pendants take more time to regenerate but can be traded in for a predict-only version that retains the original regeneration rate. The new rate will be discussed among staff, but, as said, the Pendant could be traded for a version that works as a Half Breeding Coin with the current cooldown.
Pendants have a longer regeneration time but owners are compensated with a regenerating custom-making item. This will vary between Pendants, but if, for instance, a Pendant that could be used 4 times a year was changed to having a regeneration time that made it so it could only be used 2 times a year, then the custom-making item would have those 2 lost uses per year. As Eve put it when we were discussing it, " 4 uses reduced to 2, custom maker gives 2 uses a year"
The 2nd most voted-for option with the addition of turning in the Pendant for another item. This one is fairly straightforward -- if this choice wins, we'll take the option with the 2nd highest vote count and then, later down the line, release a second poll with options for the turn-in.

We understand that some of you are going to be upset, that you feel like your Pendant isn't worth what was paid for it, but we also need to maintain a balance on the site to ensure our breeding artists don't get burnt out almost before they begin. Staff hopes that these options, or at least one of them, will appeal to you!

Some others have already voiced this concern, but with how difficult it is to get predicts for some coins (outside of PPP event), I would hate for these to become predict only.
Should something change, yes, I totally understand, as much as it sucks. But I do not feel it's fair either to shove the responsibility for predicts off on users as long as there's a high possibility of not being able to find someone to commission for them...

Maybe a prediction pendant can be a whole other item? Not everyone is an artist or can afford to hire one, so making it predicts only would make things tougher for those of us who rely on site artists because we don't have their skills. On the other hand, I can't afford a pendant lol

I got burned on the majority of my commissions on Aywas and pretty much relied on one person for all of mine who doesn't play anymore, so it'd just kill the pendants. And wow, I hope that the status page isn't accurate O.o - haven't check this site for ages now.

What are the current market values for pendants in GP anyway?

Though for the purposes of site health, you probably need to kill them anyway :P , but it'd also rely on the backup getting cleared before everyone left >.>

I wouldn't like a different item, but I might consider current market value trade back, so I get what it's worth and can decide from there what I want to buy. I would never sell my pendant as is, but I'd trade it for its GP value for the sites health if no other option is available. Just not sure what kind of influx this would be in GP...

As it is, basically every single coin is perdict only already if you'd like to get the offspring in a reasonable time... It's just, while I have over 300GPs, I'm a little reluctant to spend more money on pixels, but artists mainly just want USD... Which is totally fair. After all, you can't eat pixels.
It seems to me that not a lot of people offer their services for GP, since they can also ask for USD. Maybe if there would be a highly usable, very high-priced item that you can only get for GP...? (Nuke the SP shop already?)

It can be really difficult to get predicts for some coins (outside of PPP event), espacially just for GP, so I would hate for these to become predict only.

This is an odd thing for me, because while I am an LBP and RBP owner... I have no real opinion. I bought both purely as part of a completionist "get one of everything" mentality, to have the ability to say I have them. In reality I've never used the RBP, I've always bought coins, and the 3 or 4 occasions I HAVE used my LBP I did predicts.
I know that this isn't the case for everyone, and that whatever change we make is going to likely be a tough adjustment for many people, and I'm sorry for that. I hate that we've gotten to the place we have with breedings, but I think the mistakes that we're feeling the repercussions of now were made in good faith and rooted in what worked for them at the time. As others have said "times change" and with it we have to try and look at things differently, find the problems, and unfortunately solving those problems means making some tough decisions. Many things decided now could easily be back on the table for re-decision in a several years time - we can't tell what the future holds, but if we act now and bring things back to sustainability it means we have a future in which to change our minds.
