I am pumped! And ready for this thing to be over so I can sleep again. XD I think I might crack open a bottle of wine in celebration of the event being over in exactly 23 hours and 43 minutes. =3 - Dana

Oh! And regarding the idea of an extension. I very much disagree with this idea. Yes, we should have known page lengths at the beginning of the competition. But none of us did so all the teams ended up being on the same page with NOT knowing until late in the game. A lot of teams have been frantically working towards getting done at midnight tonight even WITH the late knowledge. It wouldn't be fair to extend the competition for the teams that haven't been working as hard/quickly. We all had the same information at the same time. It's a level playing field and extending it would skew that. - Dana

Dana - Except for the fact that an extension applies to everyone, so people who have worked harder than others will just get more time to complete their few unfinished tasks while others that haven't will have to just try to catch up with the several that they hadn't gotten to. More/less time isn't really unfair unless a team is 100% finished and can't make any more progress in the extended time, right? lol. /// My opinion is that an extension would be more fair, because there is a static "grading" system (idk what else to call it) that is not based upon who did the most the fastest. The whole A, B, C, D ranking part... for some, not knowing about the writing requirements put them behind on a lot of points... and probably got knocked a "letter grade" down just for that. I don't think that's fair. It wasn't anyone's fault, and now that supposedly everyone is behind on writing, we're all going to get lesser grading ranks/prizes for it? Hn....

However, the lengths on the writing ones were posted in the rulings forums. While some people frequented there, some did not. There are a few things that had to be redone all teams, regardless. I do not feel there is a need for an extension for the lack of, and I use this term loosely, communication failure. The answers were there, and some have been there for numerous days. Some teams have worked just as hard knowing that things changed at last minute, and still finished with the "required" length. I just don't see how it can be justified to allow the alloted time for people to "catch up" because of a soft sense of ignorance to look up in the rulings forum, or for not asking. Just my two sense, and I'm not saying that I wouldn't enjoy the extension to breathe a bit more; it's just fair play on everyone right now to leave it as is. -Yogi

God: That's just the thing though, there are some teams that are well on track to being finished by midnight tonight. Multiple teams have just around or upwards of 900 points. I don't think that it's fair to them after all their hard and fast work to finish ON TIME that an extension is called for other teams. None of us had any extra information, we all got it from the same source at the same time. If I were on one of the teams that was just shy of full points now because I had been working towards finishing tonight, I don't think it would be fair for other teams to have 'catch up time' and potentially lose our rankings (because there is honestly no team that is capable of finishing every single one, regardless of time given) because other teams didn't work as hard or as quickly. I say leave it as is and fix it for the next time around. - Dana

If they still need more time to finish their few unfinished tasks, then they haven't actually finished. An extension wouldn't be more fair, because teams who spent more time on the tasks, while also paying attention to rulings, were spending extra time for no reason.

Team A has 100% of writing done. Team B has 50%. Add an extension. Team B is at 100% done. Team A is still at 100% writing done, of course.

Also, trying to balance things out with points and such would just result in an even bigger mess without planning, submission, etc.

Everyone knew about the deadline at the same time. Teams just needed/need to take extra care and planning to make sure that all the information was gathered for the tasks.
