Monthly HA Contest

Contests

The winning HA sets have been placed into their respective shops!

Last set earned the following:
GP Set: 232 GP per artist
BP Set: 54,100,000 BP per artist
Premium Set: 2,372 PP per artist
Premium Set: 1,998 PP per artist

We're not going to have a HA contest this month, but it will return in January, where we'll decide if we want to bring it back monthly, or perhaps run it every two months instead.

What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!

I prefer it Monthly but I would understand if its not feasible anymore and easier on Eve if can't keep up with monthly anymore. might help with more time for entries especially for the basing part more than the coloring

I don't like the bimonthly option, but understand the need for it, since when sets aren't picked a lot of artists seem to find alternative uses for it.

I love HA items and of course I would prefer this to be monthly. But from what I've seen in the past, there's time when you don't get enough submissions. Giving more time to the users might be a way to prevent it: bi monthly sounds acceptable to me.

I'm having a hard time deciding monthly, lol. How about bimonthly but two winners?

My vot goes to monthly, sorry for double posting.

I prefer bi-monthly for purely selfish reasons: it takes me a LOT of effort to complete a colouration (still learning how to do the whole "photoshop" thing :P ).

Bi-monthly would mean I'd be able to participate more, as several sets I have been interested in colouring have simply ran out of time. Well, as long as the additional time is split evenly between the set creators and set colourists :P

Going by submissions within the last 18 months, I think monthly might start to be a problem. I could be behind bi-monthly for that reason.

However, if things continue to deteriorate as seen within the last year, changing the schedule won't matter.
If staff can't keep simple deadlines on their part, we'd soon end with seasonal or bi-yearly anyway. This set was supposed to go in shop 3 months ago in September. And the months before that didn't look good either.
It's honestly disrespectful towards the users that's worked hard on their entries for both bases and colourings, that something as simple as votings and event-threads can't get up in time. Not to mentioned incredibly discouraging for the users that have their entries stuck in limbo.
If users are expected to keep deadlines on their end, it really doesn't seem too much to ask that staff does the same on their end. I understand snafus with shop coding, but... Let's be honest, how much of that has been the reason for constant delays and broken schedules within the last year?
Please, please, please stop neglecting the monthly contest set, the way it's been done lately.

On a more positive note, here's a few suggestions. :)
- People new to the basing contest, might not always realise, that it's a repeating occurrence without any themed demands. 1 week for a full base seems like a really sharp deadline, if you don't realise you can just submit to the next contest, if you don't get your set done in time for this one. (or that it's possible to work on a set in advance).
Also, new contest base artists might not realise they can re-submit bases more than once.
I'd suggest saying this either in the contest thread, or maybe even in the news post about once a year.

- If the contest is moved to bi-monthly, does it has to go up on the 1st? It's a repeating problem that there's too many news posts around that time. Why not have the bi-monthly contest go from the 15th of January to the 15th of March? Or start on the 7th? Something else than the 1st.
That way, the news treads won't constantly collide with the other "beginning of the month" news posts.

Bi-monthly please! because it has been many times that I had to rush my entries or have not been enabled to finish in time.

I like Gwennafran's suggestion of not starting on the first of every month and explaining to new users they can try again next month
