Hybrids and Dawn Crystals

Pets

Alright everyone, another newspost where we address more issues about breeding.

There has been some concern with how people are expecting edits on hybrid offspring to pass over from two edited parents. The sheer fact that people expect this is something that needs to stop, as it was intended to be a rare occurrence for babies. Edits are a privilege. All hybrid artists have been informed of this and now I am informing all of you that the chance for hybrids to have edits is now 10%. Edits will also from now on be limited to small things, such as jewelry, a small expression edit, etc. The artists have been extremely generous to you all in giving users any edits whatsoever, so when we get complaints that the edits aren't done right, that they didn't get any edits at all, or that they wanted more edits, it's plain ridiculous. Too many edits on hybrid offspring would make the Hybrid Custom Crystal obsolete anyway.

Be thankful for your offspring as the artists work very hard on what they come up with! No artist is too lazy, too uncaring or otherwise, and it saddens me to think people would say that about the breeding crew. Please respect them as you would anyone else.

That being said, Dawn Crystals now include the ability to 1) completely remove one edit from a pet or 2) return one edited part of the pet back to the default lineart. An edit is defined as something not in the official lineart, so you can remove something that you may not want on your custom or gen. 2 if you want. This does not apply to any official site pets, only ones labeled as customs/offspring.

Does this include LBC-bred Hybrids in the 10% edits only?

LBC Hybrids aren't included, this is simply for any new hybrids that come as of today. And Dember, hybrids originally weren't even supposed to have edits on offspring. The sheer fact that artists started doing it was them being extremely generous, but now that almost every hybrid that comes out gets edits, it's becoming too much. We could have taken edits off hybrids completely, but we are at least keeping them with a 30% chance of getting any.

I probably wont be using any BC's now. I already thought it was too much x_x

I understand if things were """meant""" to be rare, but it still sucks when things people are used to get pulled out from under our feet

Edits are still going to be around... it isn't like we're getting rid of them. :\

No offense meant here, but I have to say I'm rather glad I already got my BC breedings back :/ I won't be buying any BC's in the future. I'll only use them if I manage to get one some other way, because close to 75$ for a breeding where its more than likely to only get one baby and most likely not going to get edits, is too much. I'll just stick to LBC breedings.

I understand why the rule is there, I suppose, but at the same time, it's been allowed for a while, and people enjoy being able to have these edits that make a baby extremely unique, instead of only colors and designs. I'm a graphic artist, so I don't like seeing "plain" things myself. Edits are what make these hybrids and customs so unique on the site, and it's a great deal of the appeal to most people. Making it such a slim chance to get a single edit, is going to turn people away from wanting to breed them at all in my opinion.

Yeah, I'm never going to buy a breeding coin. Thanks for the heads up. $75 for a recolor of existing line art and the artists can't even be bothered to do a few minor edits? Really? For $75? I know artists who would be thrilled to get $75 for original artwork and coloring. For oil paintings, even.

I just have to say I'm entirely unimpressed. It's not even like they have to do new line art, just edit existing line art and put in color patterns. Even with the edits I don't think it's worth $75. Without... yeah no.

Then again, I guess most of the money goes to the site, not the artists, but the player is still paying $75 for maybe a few inches worth of work and a recolor.

It's not a matter of the artists 'not being bothered to do it', it's a matter of people having gotten spoiled in getting copious edits all the time on their offspring. The complaining to me seems just silly, only because it isn't as if edits are being completely taken away. People were miffed at the change to make a higher percentage of only getting one offspring. They adapted. A lot of people STILL get two offspring from their breedings. All we've done is change the percentage so that edits are less common. We are -not- taking them completely away.

I make - as a commissionable artist - $45.00 USD (base) for a full color, full body piece of character art. Breeding coins now are set to essentially give you (1) one recolored pet on static, templated, reused lineart. That's completely ridiculous to me.

Like many that have posted, I do understand that the hybrids were/are meant to be fairly rare and that is why the coins are so blasted expensive. I still think it's ridiculous for them to have such low chances of getting multiples and now line edits.

Now, what purpose is there for doing hybrid breedings? You get one recolored stock lineart spawn for $75.00...or you can just get a custom for cheaper with all the edits you're willing to pay for...and then LBC it since THOSE still pass edits.

Con't.

It makes very little sense to change a $75.00 item like this. Maybe I'm wrong, but...again, maybe I'm not. As I said, I get 45.00 for full art...I know some really good artists that can get $75.00 for full character art. Not recolored stock lines with pre-shaded templates.

Sorry guys, I love that our voices are heard and admin work hard to see that things are made better, but this time you're just shooting yourself in the foot.
