Halloween comes to an end!

You’ve decided this will be your last run to Minerva’s greenhouse-maybe you’re starting to feel bad because the poor Griffin has had to deal with enough of your shenanigans, or maybe your feet are just tired of all the running you have to do to dodge her.

To your surprise, Minerva isn’t even there! Instead, you find Pablo, a bag over their shoulder half-filled with broken shards of glass, trampled plants, and candy wrappers. “Kids these days," they mutter, “destruction and trash wherever they go. Oh well. Some of these will make fine materials…"

You have a very good idea of the lecture that would come if you stuck around long enough for them to see you...so off you go.

Congratulations to Greta’s Implings on surrendering the most candy to their overlord!

And to the victors go the spoils…

Implings will receive a copy of the Greta’s Impling Vista 2017! This will be applied directly to your account-go to Settings > Edit Account > Forum Settings to use it!

For everyone else, you can find Greta's Impling Vista 2017 and Aketch's Minion Vista 2017 in the Seasonal Shop!

Top participants on each team will get a special title based on their karma! These titles are Sweet as Candy and Trickster for positive and negative karma respectively!

Everyone who participated in the event (meaning you donated something or helped with one of the sub-events) will receive the Candypocalypse 2017 Trophy!

Our favorite Halloween Concoction #13 has some new linesets added to it!

The Pumpkin Patch will stop taking deposits tonight (the 5th) at 11:59pm AST!

That’s right, you will no longer be able to deposit things into pumpkins after tonight! You’ll still be able to grab a pumpkin once every ten minutes until they’re all gone, though.

Trick or Treating and Minerva’s Greenhouse will close tomorrow night (the 6th) at 11:59pm AST, along with Frankenstein’s Lab and Rowan’s Potion Brewing!

After tomorrow night, you will no longer be able to Trick or Treat or harvest plants! You will also no longer be able to cook up pets or potions, so be sure to finish up your mad science experiments soon!

Please note that this is different timing from the Pumpkin Patch!

Rowan looks around the garden, wincing a little at the mess that had been left behind; Halloween always seemed to come with a lot more destruction than anticipated. Her hands grip her broom a little tighter as she looks around, planning where to start when a voice calls out to her.

"Rowan, is that you?"

The Quetzal shifter broke into a grin as she heard Minerva's voice, looking around again to try and find where it came from.

"Minerva?" she giggled. "Where are you?"

"Follow my voice. You'll find me."

Rowan gave a puzzled but amused look as she hops on her broom and starts to look for her. "You know, it helps if you keep talking if I'm meant to follow your voice."

"I thought you said you'd know where I was anywhere in the world?"

"I apparently thought I was a better witch than I am," she grinned, honing in on her voice and flying faster in that direction.

The deeper into the garden she flew, the darker it became - until all of a sudden there was a faint glow. Curious she pressed onwards, hopping off the broom as she comes to a pathway lit with black and red candles.

"Minerva..?"

"Follow the path." The voice seemed slightly exasperated - apparently she wasn't following some very pointedly laid out directions.

Rowan slowly walks up the path, looking around her to make sure this wasn't one her elaborate Halloween tricks, ready to thwack her with her broom if this was another jump-scare like last year.

The path eventually opens up to a clearing, candles hanging from lanterns on the tree branches, a sea of red and gold snapdragons etching out the shape of a heart. Minerva stood at the centre, looking a little pleased with herself, and more than a little nervous.

"I managed to save them... it was hard to stop those little b- people from ruining everything." She smiled and ducked her head a little, not quite sure how to take Rowan's silence. "So I... erm. I know how special today is for you, and... Well I'm hoping I'm not about to ruin it." She coughs a little, fidgeting nervously. "I mean, we've been together a while now, and I... well, you know. I care about you. A lot. And I want to keep caring about you, and for you... and, well..."

She holds up a ring with a sheepish smile.

Rowan stands perfectly still, staring at her silently.

Minerva palms the ring with an embarrassed flush. "But obviously not. Forget it, forget I said anything, I sh-"

She doesn't get to finish the sentence as Rowan flings herself at her with a squeal. "Yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes - give me that ring, you stupid woman, how could you ever think I'd say no?!"

Minerva flushes even redder as she slips the ring onto Rowan's finger, kissing her hand with a smile. "I love you."

Rowan gently takes Minerva's face into her hands and kisses her softly. "And I love you. This is the best Halloween present ever."

Back at Rowan and Minerva's cottage everyone was waiting in anticipation of the good news... all except two conspicuously missing persons...

No one really missed that Aketch wasn't there - they usually were asleep. But Greta? Greta never missed an opportunity to sour any good occasion - and yet was nowhere to be seen…

Rowan and Minerva, at the very least, seem to have their happy ending! But what will become of Greta and Aketch? Tune in next time to find out!

The Jeweled and Rock custom bases will be coming tomorrow!

I think what might be helpful next year is if both kinds of Pumpkins dropped more often - it felt like both kinds just weren't dropping as often as the 2 previous years I've been here. If they dropped like the previous years, then I think people would naturally have more just because of the Tasks that required massive Adventuring. That's my 2 cents worth.

I think the problem here isn't that they didn't make it clear about the fact that Halloween Candy was really intended to be for the event and there would be less valuable items. Yes, they said there would be two big ticket items, but making those items not only both Forum Vistas, but Vistas you could get just for participating, seems like a mistake. I think the thought was that if you put that much candy towards your overlord, you wouldn't have enough to buy them, but I think they severely underestimated their userbase here, as well as their wanting of these sorts of things. You really only need one vista, probably your team's, unless you're a collector, the fauna are alright but I've never really seen them be too important to anyone but collectors (I could be wrong though), and there's a few pets, but not much.
For argument's sake though, let's say I want to buy everything you can with Halloween Candy.
Both vistas would cost me 1.4k, the fauna 60, and all the pets come to 130. Altogether, that's 1,590 candy. You could argue that you could buy multiple, but it's not the least bit profitable as at this point, anyone who wants any of these things can buy them and likely already has, so they'd only hold value to users who either aren't active right now, or those who will come later, and it will be harder for them to find and afford the big vistas, and there's so many Fauna that unless they're collectors, they'll be worthless too, leaving only the pets with any value. Even if we do that, though, that will tank any value the pets have as rarities from the event shop.
There's also this to take into consideration. I personally did not actively participate in trick-or-treating this year. I had the premium spell that would earn me candy as I was online, but I wasn't even online all that often except for a few stretches of adventuring for tasks. I still ended up with 1,977 candy, enough to buy everything and still have a lot left over. I can't imagine how much candy everyone else has left over. Yes, this was a risk, but you made the reward worthless to even those who DIDN'T take that risk.

Oh, also, as far as trading pumpkins goes:
As usual in events, I mostly go for clothes and pets since that's what interests me. This year, though, I haven't even gotten to LOOK at the pets because all the clothing takes so many mello pumpkins, as the rest of the items, and no one wants Halloween Pumpkins it seems, so user trading is borderline impossible. I've been trying to trade my surplus of Halloween for Melo, but it seems no one wants them.

I'd like to add to my post up there about both kinds of Pumpkins not dropping as often as they have in previous years. It's also worth noting that I had all 4 Hidden Skills & an abundance of keys..and I still didn't get as many of both kinds of Pumpkins as I have in previous years. I'm sure those who don't have all 4 Hidden Skills & an abundance of Keys are suffering even more.

I'm a bit sad the participation prize was a forum vista both teams can get. I love the trophy though. I was kinda hoping it would be like the unus event with a custom maker but it was still a fun event either way.

darn ending so soon :(.. i havnt been able to make a single potion..i love the idea of 4 different areas but.. its been hard because they all have the same timer meaning busted in 1 then all areas are 0%.. with some potions requiring herbs form 3 different areas heh been hard ot get them in time.. Maybe next year ill have better luck.. I kept getting busted on 90% first try without any npc detecting handy cap.
