Breeding information

Site Update

magic_radioactivebreedingcoin.pngeggcoin.png

Evening folks! I'm just here with a few updates for you. We have seen some concern about the Radioactive Breeding Queues, so I want to clear up a few things!

We have a lot of RBC at some pretty crazy wait times (30 days, 60+ days, etc.) - these are for one of two reasons. The first being that your baby needed some fixes, while the second is the reason you all are hoping for: Mauri and Kyu assigned a large chunk of the "prize" breedings from the RBC event! These ones will be sitting in the queue, waiting until we get closer to the date of their actual submission. They were assigned early so that the artists could have plenty of time to work on them since they were special cases.

The second matter I would like to discuss is after talking it over, we have decided that Breeding Season is Changing. Due to the queue, we are going to be changing the season to every 4 months: January, May, and September! This may be a permanent change, we are waiting to see how well this effects things.

As a thanks for reading, tomorrow you can find a Love Letter in the Advent page~

Thanks for the reply. It worries me a little that 6 babies needed to be fixed... but I think three (maybe 4) had a shared parent so ... maybe it was something to do with him?

And that's good to know, that means I'm still in the running for one of the special breedings then.

Tae (#66637) From what I have seen with mutants there can be a lot of weirdy stray pixels do to cutting up the images and manipulating them. Which is where a vast majority of the fixes come from. (this is going based on what I have personally witnessed, so I might be wrong, just don't wanna leave you completely in the dark)

that would make sense heh Yeah four of the missing ones are with the snoodle I grabbed on Black Friday... so it might be because he has sparkles and stuff which might make the stray pixels

🎁❄Kaiyo❄⛄ (#489) Haha yeah some might riot. XD Maybe have sales on breeding coins every three months and new hybrids every six months? :) That way people get breeding coins at the same rate (including on the day that new hybrids are available), but we don't continue to add large amounts of hybrids to the already ridiculous amount.

Tae (#66637) That sounds exactly like the issue, glows and sparkles can be incredibly persistent.
♎ Astra ♎ (#16365) I was actually thinking about that, cause we really have far too many hybrids compared to how many non hybrids we actually have lol

🎁❄Kaiyo❄⛄ (#489) I'm glad it occurred to you, because it strikes me as a pretty common sense plan to reduce the flow of new hybrids to a more manageable rate while still giving people the breeding coins they've come to expect. ^^ We've got 75 hybrids now vs. 20 we had when I joined this site. I thiiiiiink we can slow it down a bit on the hybrids. ^_^;;

I never really thought about it, but yeah the amount of hybrids vs Parent species does seem a little imbalanced. As some one who is trying to get a particular themed pet in every Genus I'm seeing that I have most of the normal pets but when I get to hybrids there's a list a mile long, which keeps growing every couple months. In nature, and I know the site does not follow nature for many things, hybrids are a rare occurrence.

On that note as well, there are only 2 "grand hybrids" (at least that I'm aware) so it might be interesting to see a couple more added to that.

♎ Astra ♎ (#16365) I might put it to site vote in the next few weeks, let everyone get a say on it.
Tae (#66637) I want to hold off on more "grand hybrids" until we can organize the genus page a bit more cause right now everything is kind of weirdly placed and should be divided better (like the grands being in the rares). But yeaaah the hybrid list is a bit lengthy, to say the least.

Maybe make a Rare Hybrid category separate from rares? As there are other rare hybrids with dedicated custom makers, like Violinns and Emaia, which are just in the Rare section I believe. It might help organize it a little better if they had their own section, and make it easier when you guys add more in the future?

Rare Hybrid sounds like a good category name to add.

Indeed, a poll would be a good way to do it.

I just think we'd be fine if we only got one new hybrid every six months from now on, since there's already 75 of 'em. Maybe one new "grand" hybrid every 12 months (in the spring or summer, since Dec.-Jan. is always busy with Aymas!).
