It is the time of the year that I know all of you have been waiting for! So try to hold your excitement at least until you finish reading!
Let's start with something a little slower paced, the new GP/BP shop pets!
It's a Maki takeover! As delicious as some of these pets look, remember that pets are friends, not food!
If you colored one of these pets, please contact Kousei (#25044) for your payment!
Make sure to include your PayPal address if you are opting for the USD option.
We will also be collecting pet PSDs directly from the thread, so please make sure you keep the links active for two weeks (at least until mid-October) so we have time to snag 'em!
The GP Shop has seen a newcomer, the Essence of October 2016, in honor of Hephaestus!
The Premium Item is the Pumpkin Pack! It is full of a variety of fun pumpkins for the season, including and introducing the newest: Screaming Pumpkin!
These Screaming Pumpkins are great for sharing a bit of holiday fear by throwing them at your friends faces! In true Halloween spirit! Or something.. please don't actually hit anyone in the face! If you do, I'm not responsible!
Our Birthday Lunaris is, unfortunately, running late! We think the Halloween decorations may have scared him away. We sent out a search party to try to find him, once we locate 'em we will let you know!

The long awaited Rare Jeweled Stave has finally found its way into the USD Shop! So sorry that this has taken so long! You can use this Rare Stave to make any of the previous Jeweled Rare species!

You're still here, is there something else you were expecting? Perhaps... a few spooks~?
I think I might be able to oblige with that! How about.... a Pumpkin Patch? Will that suffice for your Halloween needs? For those of you who are new, you can deposit items r30+ or pets into the pumpkins and then withdraw a pumpkin in return! You can only withdraw a Pumpkin every 10 minutes, but you can deposit as many as you want. We have tested the HTML thoroughly and links and images should all work! However, please don't add anything too large, and please remember that the pumpkins are still monitored! Should you open a pumpkin that you feel violates the ToS please report it to a moderator!
If you are feeling a little braver than frolicking through a pumpkin patch, you can try to brave Minerva's Garden! It seems to have grown quite a bit this year, and a few older plants have popped up! I'm really not sure what type of magic she's using to do that, and I don't think I want to know... We have made a small change to the garden; Now, when you try to steal your plant, it automatically refreshes the page and gives you a timer until the next time you can try!
I have one more special treat for you, or is it... a trick~? Some of you may have noticed the fun banner on the left side of your screen.. That is right, Trick or Treat has returned! It has had a bit of a facelift, so I'll give you a little refresher course.
You head on over to the Who's Online page, and you can knock on anyone's door who is online! The person then has 15 minutes to answer the door and choose to trick or treat you! If you get a treat, you receive a candy, if you get tricked... well you might notice something floating around. While you are Trick or Treating you may run into some others, this can either have no effect, add more candy to your bag, or they might take some.
Keep an eye on that banner, when someone knocks it'll do a little wiggle and the counter will update! Click the number to be taken to your door.
If you find your way to the main Halloween Page, you will notice a few other links there, those will be coming shortly. We are staggering the event release due to how massive this year's celebrations will be!

Q&A:
Question: Is that banner on the left my candy?
Answer: No! That is the people waiting for you to open your door and respond to your request! You have 15 minutes after they knock to respond!
Question: So where can I see how much candy I have?
Answer: You can't. I know, I'm a big meanie for this one. We are finalizing a *huge* update, and once that update is finished you will be able to see your candy.
Question: So what is the candy for...?
Answer: It will have it's own shop full of different things, so collect all the candy!
Question: Does tricking *take* candy?
Answer: No! The only way to lose candy is if an NPC shows up and steals it from you. Tricking will reward you with a different prize that you have to catch.
Question: I can knock on my own door, is this okay?
Answer: Well I don't know about you, but I know when I wait for Trick or Treaters I eat my own candy.
Question: Why do the Ghosts disappear when I click them?
Answer: You successfully tamed the Ghost and it has moved into your inventory!

"being able to ToT many, many users in such a short span of time" - Yeah, the problem is that I'm able to get many negative NPCs in a short span of time too, and they can take away quite a bit of candy at a time. Happening too frequently and with too high numbers makes me feel like I'm wasting my time TOTing, and I don't have unlimited time to spend on this site.
"the positive NPCs giving random handfuls of candy" - I can't even count the positive NPCs anymore. Back when I was actually TOTing, they usually gave me 2 or 3 candies. I think the most I got was 5, and that was rarely. The negative NPCs have a much higher average. Sometimes they'll only take 3-6, but usually it seems to be about 10-15, and then you'll get one that will take 30 or 50 all at once. None of the positive NPCs seem to give amounts anywhere near as high as the negative NPCs take them.
But anyway, I'm not going to bother with this for a while. Maybe I'll do it some more later. Right now I'm not in the mood to feel like I'm taking one step forward and two steps back. Even *if* the imbalance isn't as big as it seems, it's still enough to make the event not as fun as it should be.

I hate to be that guy but I kinda feel like Arianna there. And my experience has been FAR more negative NPC than positive, and they took more than the good ever gave. IDK maybe some people are having better luck, but where I'm sitting it's stressful and taking so much. It spikes my anxiety.

I don't want to be a negative nancy but.. could we add an option to opt out of trick or treating? Some way to toggle between accepting trick or treaters & removing the option for people to "knock" on your door? I've finished handing out my candy for the night and put lights out in my name, but am still getting 10, 15 people sending requests. I'd like to be able to be online without having to monitor my sidebar 24/7. An option would be nice

Oh my- Im sure someone else has mentioned it by now but I couldnt help but notice that the item descriptions for the Pumpkin Pack and the Screaming Pumpkin were lines out of the 'this is Halloween' song from Nightmare Before Christmas! You trolls!! Lol

so... when i send something thats not up to par... it only returns my money an not the item(s) AND the notice it sends is "1,000 BP has been returned to you due to a bad egg in the Easter Egg Field." <.< were long past easter... and idk where candy is located once you get them, cause theyre not showing up in my inventory... just the trick ghosts an only sometimes (like ive gotten 10.. but only received 5 in the inventory) >_> Kaiyo (#489) .. sorry if this isnt the right posting spot, i looked but i thnk i looked so hard ive blinded myself to finding the post for errors? >_< *hides*

Popping in to address the concern over NPCs taking candy away:
It may seem like you're losing a lot of candy, but between being able to ToT many, many users in such a short span of time and the positive NPCs giving random handfuls of candy, we don't feel that it will hinder your collecting. However, if we do find that it is taking too big of a chunk out of candy totals over the course of Trick or Treat, we will adjust how much is taken away. Also try to remember that shop prices are based on an overall average of how much candy the userbase has in their personal stash, so the items should still not be out of reach when the shop opens!
