Site Update

I want to start this news post with an apology.

A couple of months ago things really started to get on top of me, and due to that my work for Aywas suffered - and soon that started to get on top of me too. I fell behind at an alarming rate, and the further I fell the harder it was to climb right back on top... and it escalated so quickly.

What I should have told people about six weeks ago was that I was working through the queues but saving them up to accept them in one big blow. This was because I have a bad habit of checking queues I've already done for the pets I've sent back, and I'd end up in a cycle where maybe 5 queues ran nicely and everything else... well, I believe someone mentioned March?

Anyway, a lot of boring text you don't want to read later... I finally got to the end of the alphabet and ran the queues! That was the mass exodus of customs you witnessed tonight. In all I believe just over 1000 customs were accepted, leaving approximately 150 to go.

I know that people will wonder why I had custom creation temporarily locked if I'm so much closer to catching up - and the answer is that which I do those 150 the queue could easily double in size because people have seen pets coming back and will submit more customs. Which is great! I love seeing your customs - but I need to get things a little more under my belt to feel comfortable and confident in myself that I won't let you all down again.

It's not an easy decision to make, but I know that people have several times suggested if it gets to this stage that this is the preferred action, rather than seeing the queues languish. I left it far too late, but I hope those same people that encouraged this can understand doing it now, too.

Custom Creation will return Monday 12th September.

Taking this time will help me get back on my feet to hopefully work better, faster and smarter than I have been, and be the admin that you all deserve and certainly haven't been getting.

So again I apologise - I don't expect forgiveness, I've been a source of frustration for so many of you, and rightly so, and I accept that responsibility with the hope we can all move forward together to a bigger and brighter future.

Crystal Check will still be active - and I whole-heartedly encourage that you keep accessing it and getting help from my two lovely ladies - after all, it means when the queues are open again you'll be able to dive straight in with the right item, and a shiny link to prove it's percentage!

Closing the queues also allows me to make some changes that have been in line for a long time, and allows you the time to plan how you want to move forward too. I will leave that new chunk of text until the weekend so I don't overload you too much - and I promise a lot of it is good news!

Will last months jeweled pets that were denied be accepted once the queue is back up even though they're not the current line sets?

And I'm glad you're getting things under control ~ it's never fun to feel like things are getting out of hand x-x

I think this should be a thing. Custom creation should have windows for submission and then everything should be closed up, checked, approved/denied, then the window should open again.

Eve (#2775) Rodimus makes a good point, maybe have them open for a few days to give every time zone a chance to submit and then close it for a few weeks to give yourself a chance to catch up and whatnot? I never really did understand why that was never a thing from the beginning of aywas, tbh XD

Though I'm so slow coloring it doesn't really matter XD

4 Huge Nerds (#6312) - I'm so sorry, I was adding a note to do exactly that in the rejections but it seems it decided to not pass along >.o; Yes, once queues are open you can resubmit the one/s I sent back (I have them on record with usernames), and I'll fix the genus for you when it's accepted ^^

Rodimus (#63235) & Belawy (#6513) - It's an interesting idea, I won't deny! It should be okay once I get back on top because it's a manageable amount of uploads per day - it was just suddenly losing one of my helpers, gaining I believe 5-7 queues with Slash leaving? It was a sudden avalanche I wasn't expecting and it was the straw that had me crawling for bed going "unless that straw comes with coffee liqueur on the other end I don't want to know" lmao XDD

I can't deny that maybe having one or two weeks a year scheduled as time off might be beneficial in a lot of ways. I think it's something I'm going to think about, because if it's something that people know to expect then it's not going to be so jarring, and it'll just become part of the routine.

As for why things are this way... I think because customs weren't originally anything like how they are now - if I recall it was metal only so it was a very "instant gratification" thing that grew and expanded but kept that "instant gratification" system with it, despite it being pretty un-viable most of the time XD

I also wanted to say thank you to everyone for being amazing and leaving such lovely comments <3 I'm reading them all, even though I'm not commenting back, and it means a lot to me <3 Thank you!
Also, Eden (#72947), don't panic, it didn't sound harsh at all ^^

I think if we have regulated windows we'll just get huge backlogs, with stops in between, much like a freeway in rush hour traffic, but the occasional break to clear our the log seems legit.

(Also a regulated system might hurt the psd market. If you only have so much time to get things in, you're going to be a lot more picky about what you buy, so Probs the same 10 or so major artists getting most of the sales)

That said, thanks for letting us know what's up! It seems like a reasonable thing to do!

I want to put in a custom, but I am trying to be patient. Today is the 12th! :DD
