If nothing can be changed about the new since the artist quit, I must vote for the old ._. The length of the legs plain bugs me. They're way too short o-o

I view it as a dynamic pose, like he's not just standing still and I think that's what I like about it :D I guess there's no use for critique though since it won't be redrawn :9

Jodie - you're wrong about about that hind leg.

The hips are clearly rotated, with the spine curved, allowing for a longer reach on the hind leg that is connected to the side of the hip that is slung back most.

It's a gait used by all four-legged creatures.

I just joined, fell in love with the insi.. -and the new version kind of creeps me out. x_X

I like the new version's head and pose, but that chest looks a bit weird: what are those lines? And the tail is really creepy. I can't imagine that tail to go with the moth' and butterflies or a lot more which are modelled after insects that don't have those scorpion-like stingy tails.

The shading and detail of the new one is really nice to look at and imho looks better than on the old one. Still, I hope we don't get that version of new lineart as it is shown here for the insis. Just thinking of it makes me sad already. *goes and saves pictures of her "old" insis*

I feel like some people are taking a virtual mythical pet way too seriously. xD I would probably quit too.

The new one kinda creeps me out :/ The old one looks kind of cute.. something I'd see in my backyard maybe. The new one just looks too drasticly changed and off balance almost.

It's a tough call. The new line art is cute, but with the angle you lose the dark stripe on the original colouration and I think more than anything that needs to be taken into consideration - how will it effect the colourations of the pets we have now?
I can see where people are coming from with the legs - there isn't enough definition to show that it's still leg against the chest. Also, the line between the thorax and abdomen looks simply like a line. There should be more of a definition that it's an indent there, as with most insects.
On the subject of the artist quitting, there are lots of talented artists on Aywas who modify pets to amazing standards - perhaps one would be willing to redline it for you and see what people think then?

To be completely honest, I much prefer the old. The new one just lacks some indefinable quality to me, and seems like it possesses less personality than the original, which seems much more playful and happy. The new is nice, but...I just don't like it that much. It sorta feels like the new one is more like a subspecies to the originals, or a new species entirely.

From a custom maker's standpoint, it would be easier to edit and such, but it takes away part of the challenge in making customs. The old insi's pose is more dynamic, and thus, harder to repose, but the end results on custom insis were usually pretty good because of the way the pose flows. The new one, it'll be harder to get that same dynamic with the edits. More room =/= cooler customs, sometimes.

The shading as well seems off as well, and it feels like there's stray lines in some areas.

I voted stay with the old. The new just seems like it has too many issues, to me.
