Pull A Chair Up To My Table

Site Update

One of the overwhelming pieces of feedback we've had since yesterday is that people are concerned about what they can charge for different types of artwork, services and items.

To aid in clearing up that confusion a table has been added to the commissions panel knowledgebase article, which gives you the various methods of payment and if you can use it.

If there's anything you think should be added let us know, we did our best to be thorough but we may have missed a subject or two!

Tequila Mockingbird (#64472) selling of PSD uses is "Existing Site Genus PSD"

Ariento & Delira (#42699) - In the past we still haven't allowed this as there would be complications if the copyright holder changed their mind (which they are within their rights to do). However I don't want to speak for the Copyright department now that it rests with Hiiro (#755), and defer to them to correct or confirm what I've said ^^

gabsph (#12544) - That's a very good point - it could definitely benefit from splitting it into more specific categories regarding coding. Would perhaps "Coding (without graphics)", "Coding (without Aywas images)", and "Coding (with Aywas images)" perhaps be a better split of it, as Tequila Mockingbird (#64472) there is the potential for a slippery slope where graphics are involved with coding, but someone could code it for you to insert your own graphics later?

kat . hasül (#6480) - Thank you for helping clarify that for me. Do you guys have any suggestions on wording it more clearly so it's not so easily overlooked again?

I will try to add these as soon as possible (though it's Kyu that's the genius with the table - I end up putting something in the wrong place and imploding it ^^;;)

Under something like "Copyrighted Fanart (eg Kingdom Hearts)", how come it's only limited to either being free or being allowed as part of an art trade? Suppose someone on here commissions another user on here to draw them fanart of, say, their favorite video game character. Wouldn't it be more fair to both parties if they were allowed to pay via at -least- site currency? There's plenty of sites that allow that, like deviantart, Gaia Online, etc.

There's no "Existing Site Genus PSD". That says "editing site genus PSD" no? It says "editing exising SCC species" above it. so maybe that got you confused?

Unfortunately no, exceptions are not made under those circumstances. The Aywas Copyright Panel has always made Aywas Copyright rules apply to all users who want copyrighted material for customs.

Right now I think it's a bit unclear when it says "The greyed out squares mean that you cannot [underlined] use this method to pay for that particular item, pet, or service.", but from my understanding you are allowed to use the commissions panel for many of the services- you'd just have to pay the 15% fee. So it's less that you cannot, and more that it's not necessary? I know personally I'm likely to just use the panel for everything as a safeguard, the underlined cannot just seems to very strongly state that it isn't allowed. Perhaps this could be addressed in the article?

I agree with a prior notion to make the table even easier to understand... Whether it's checks and x's, or only colored boxes (green and red).

And in line with what Vixen (#66196) has said, it seems like some things could be done in the Commissions Panel but are stated as they cannot. Assuming it doesn't break any policies (the things that seem like they could be done in the comm. panel), perhaps use grey as "doesn't matter"/"not necessary"/"optional".

Tequila Mockingbird (#64472) Ah yes, my bad. I meant 'Editing', not 'Existing' ~

Just letting everyone know we're in the process of updating the table with some of the suggestions, and hope it clears up a couple of areas - and "blank custom PSDs" has been added ^^;; Please bear with us while we try some things and tweak them to look good =)

With all this new information I hope staff are considering that Sylver didn't lie when he said he was unclear what rules followed with SBC babies.
