I went with black hair that's dyed, but I can see wanting lighter hair it was challenging going with a lighter scheme and making it look right on the base. Tried to come with something before the deadline but I was too tired. I'm sure in every round there's something missing from the entries so this just isn't the round for those people I guess. I understand i'm usually the minority because I like gross creepy things so I never see anything like that as an option but I don't want people to feel bad about not including my specific interests i'm just happy with what we get because I know how much time and effort it takes to color these and for people to still not be happy with it... I dunno, with some other comments I've been feeling pretty upset to the point of I don't even want to try anymore. I'm absolutely honored my very first attempt at coloring a base got 1st but as of right now people have been making me feel like other people deserved it more and I wish I hadn't even tried in the first place. Even now like i'm probably just making the comment section depressing so i'm sorry for that too I wont comment again after this.

You didn't check the actual entry thread on the forum, did you? ;)
Those nine entries were all the finished sets that were submitted. Frankly I'm super impressed by the overall high level and the general amount of variety we got from just 9 actual entries.
(Other people reading this: Please, do submit more to the Monthly HA contest.)
In general, maybe be a little careful how you phrase things, if you don't mean to accidentally hurt an artist. You can be quite frank about your feelings in general, and quite a few artists on Aywas are easily affected by negative comments. I know you don't mean to hurt anyone. Just... Be careful when saying negative things about art. And be mindful how some quick comments might can be read as such.
Writing is very tricky, as you don't get the other person's tone of voice or body language, so it doesn't take much to unintentionally hurt or upset someone, with a comment that can be read as even slightly negative.

Corvoid (#65125)
HA contest veteran here. Please don't feel bad, and please do try again. :)
The three winning entries are all pretty dark and galaxy themed, but really... Did anyone honestly expect anything else to win? I didn't knew which would place where, but I had first and second place guessed correctly from the start of this. XD
Galaxy is the sort of thing the majority of Aywas absolutely loves, so the wast majority are going to vote for the most galaxy-themed entries that's up.
This isn't even close to the worst "almost identical entries winning" instance the contest has had over time. So again, don't feel bad.
Much love,
The artist that did the Easter set end the light blue one. For fun, because she knew they had very little chance of winning to the pretty dark galaxy entries. ;)

Gwennafran (#22320) Yes I know those were the only entries that were finished on the thread. I was voicing my opinion that I was disappointed in the fact that the entries were all so similar to each other and that there was not more variety. I apologized to Corvoid as I was making a general statement and not one about their particular entry, meaning that all the entries were similar and not that their one entry was just one colour.
It is a shame that people get hurt so easily when people make a negative comment, rather than using it as a suggestion for improvement in their work later on. I really loved this base, but all the entries were so dark and most of them looked very similar to one another, even the three winning entries are similar to each other and have similar colour pallets so this is another amazing set that I loved the base for but will end up not buying because I didn't like the chosen colours.
Maybe if there had been more varied colour combinations than other users would not be disappointed that they are all the same colour basically...

Honestly.
Like Gwenna said, given the base was space themed, it was kind of inevitible that there would be a preferrence for actual galaxy colourations. You may be disappointed, yeah, but the majority still voted for that colour spectrum, and evidently you were not the majority.
Trying NON galactic colours on a galactic base is a risk. And I don't know if you have ever tried colouring a monthly ha base before, but it takes quite some time. It's likely safer, as a colourist, to go the galaxy colouration route. And I don't at all blame the artists for chosing to do so either, because clearlt it paid off, as they made it into the top three.
Perhaps if you would like to see varied colours, you should colour a few varied entries yourself, or find some friends who are willing to try it out :0

This is probably the first base ever where I knew exactly what people wanted. Giving people what they want is hard but the winning sets pulls it off expertly.
The sets that won are gourgeous, and I got a bunch of new stuff in my own wardrobe.
I took a risk with my entries for the challenge. And as said, I knew that most likely meant not placing. But you're never sure of placing anyway. This way I got to have fun. ;)

I really don't feel that you phrased it in a way that should have hurt anyone, you were just being frank, and I feel the same way.
Happy for the winners, but very unhappy at the variety of these sets.
Gwennafran (#22320)
I voted for yours. :)

I mean... One winner is blueish green and the other two are blue and purple... that's what I meant by not a lot of variety... and even the entries that made it to voting were all very similar in that scheme or similar to others... there were two similar pinks and two similar orange and green ones... so there wasn't much to distinguish each one from the others...
