Site Update

The illustrious National Novel Writing Month is well underway!
We will affectionately be referring to it by its well-known acronym, NaNoWriMo. :3
If you're unfamiliar wit the phenomenon, NaNoWriMo is a project that challenges you to write a 50,000-word novel within the 30 days of the month! I know many of you look forward to trying to make your fingers fall off every November, and we'd like to invite you to post your work here on Aywas for some appropriately-themed prizes. *u*
We are setting the deadline for participating in NaNoWriMo on Aywas to December 15th at 11:59 p.m.

Here's all the links you'll need:
NaNoWriMo 2015
Post your stories here! This is publicly visible.
If you want your work removed from the site after the event is over and prizes have been distributed, we will certainly do that for you upon request.
Private NaNo Logs 2015
If you don't want your work visible to the public, you can utilize the private forum instead.
Only you and staff will be able to see your threads, and we will happily remove them from the site upon request after the month is over and prizes have been handed out.

Whether you use the public space or private area, you must follow the NaNo instructions!
We have also created a FAQ thread for any questions that you run into.

And, of course, there are prizes!
(They are stackable, so the more you write, the more goodies you accumulate.)
1,000 - participation item.
5,000 - pet item.
10,000 - HA set.
25,000 - Defense items.
50,000 - Forum title, exclusive fauna and an exclusive site theme/background.
So if you write 50,000+ words, you get all prizes above. If you only hit 10,000 you will get the participation item, pet item, and HA set.

Good luck to all of our aspiring novelists, hobby writers, wordsmiths, and everyone in between!
(And hopefully your work doesn't end up eating you alive! D:)

I love that Aywas does something for Nano. I think it's really good to encourage other people to write. :D However, I really wish we didn't have to post our stories online. Some of us plan on using Nano to create stories that we might later publish, and that means we can't post them anywhere online. I know you'll remove them later on request, but it still makes me uncomfortable. I don't think enough people would bother cheating the official Nano website system to make this precaution necessary on this site. Plus, as Bill Cipher (#3389) mentioned, it's unfair to writers who have material that should be censored. For this reason, I haven't participated in the Aywas Nano event for the last few years (although I've written 50k words each year), and I won't participate again this year. But I'm glad that Aywas is doing something, at least, and I wish everyone else luck with it. :)

And I guess I've done it anyway.
And it's neither the 14 pages of nonsense OR the one story I started, but a totally new idea! Woo!
Too bad my inspiration isn't around for viewing anymore. ;-;
Also, quick question. By defense items, do you mean equipable pet items?
