I thought users couldn't have more than 1 submission into the voting round? I wish the rules would be more clear on how to make it into voting. I also wish users would get a private mail to find out why theirs didn't make it into the voting rounds. This would help a lot of people.

They can. Eve is simply known to prioritize different artists if she has enough good sets to work with.

On that same note, there's really just one person prosessing this. And she's already massively overworked (Eve is also the one approving customs). I don't think it'd be that good idea to add "individual constructive critisism for every entry that doesn't make it to voting" to her tasks.
Also, a lot of people don't actually want that sort of feedback, and would only end up hurt and upset if Eve started to send it out to every entry that didn't make it.

If you want feed back, maybe take it to the human avatar furum in the custom items subforum. Ask for help there.
A lot of people are happy to help artists asking for feedback. :)

I always encourage people who are looking for critique to ask on the forums, tumblr, or wherever they feel safe to reach out for feedback - this way not only are you going to get artistic tips, but you're also reaching out to the people you want to vote for you, and you can hear what it is that they look for.

In the simplest of ways what I look for is a clean design with crisp lines that works well as a set and as stand alone pieces, so as to appeal to as many users as possible - for the artist's profit as much as the user's enjoyment.

Whether you do something simplistic, or completely wacky, as long as it hits that site quality that people expect me to deliver then you're in with a shot ^^

This one was really hard to choose from, but I finally came to a decision and chose the 9th one.

i think the 5th one down has the most components that would mix and match well with other HA items that have already been released... , but 3, 4, and 9 would all also have at least a few items that would also pair well with other things... my favorite though is the 6th , but i dont think there are nearly as many items that would go with the items in that one if a person didnt want their avitar to be JUST dressed up in items from only that set...
