Are you serious or just trolling? Where are you feeling the oppression? It's because MOGAI got an event and straights didn't?

Do you realise we DON'T NEED an event? Do you realise straight+cis people aren't oppressed that's why we don't need a visibility and support event? Actually, every day, in the whole world, we get our own public event where everyone shows acceptance and nobody judges or tries to impose who we should be or whom we should date.

Do you feel so hurt about... Being told that?

Look I've been on Aywas for about 5 years, has anyone tried to hurt my little cis+het feelings? Well, of course not. Aywas is not repressing them. NOBODY is doing that. You simply cannot do that in a world where it is the norm. And even if someone goes to you and says "curse you, hetero cis devil" (which is unlikely) that's not oppression nor shaming. Because you will go out and EVERYONE will give you a pat in the back for not being "you know... one of those".

I've been reading the comments on the last few pages, nothing minimally offensive towards cis+het was said. Unless you are actually getting offended by "this is not your event". And they're right! You look like a lame supporter if you get offended by an event that is not about you. MOGAI/LGTB+ is NOT about you.

They don't have to be about you for you to support them. Being an ally is being a decent human being, caring about others, not putting oneself in the focus. Recognising where our space is, helping without wanting acknowledgement. Because you don't get a pin for being decent. And because, as the name says, you're there to SUPPORT not to be the main character, hero or lead.

I'm at work and will respond more later, however the oppression I'm referencing is in these comments. I haven't asked for a "straight pride" item, nor have I said straights need to be represented. I said I don't appreciate hearing have no voice here, don't belong, and are the children. The way to stop oppression isn't to attack someone else. Wow...

Villain, not children

Only that nobody said you don't belong. I explicitly said that straight people are more than welcome to take part in Pride events and support us. The point of this discussion is only that straight people have no place in being represented by Pride events.

Pride events are events for the oppressed genders and sexualities, and cis/het is not oppressed in any way or form anywhere, thus: No representation necessary.

Nobody is painting straight people as the "villain". You're only trying to paint yourself as the victim in all this, sorry to be plain. You are NOT a victim of any kind of oppression for being straight, not here and not anywhere else in the world.

Guys, stop all this seriously. Just give everyone the context and there is no issue! As I said earlier, I understand and have no complaints at this event, but tis attitude some people have against cis/het is seriously horrendous when you know not everyone knows the context of this event.
So please stop all this ridiculous hate on both sides and for a future event maybe sketch why this is important so everyone understands.
We are all people on the same side and all this hate is making me sick and tired of humanity in general.

Telling LGBTQ+ people to stop talking about our problems during an event specifically for us is kind of... the opposite of what should be happening, but alright. Good to know the "hate" is making you "sick and tired of humanity", maybe you'll understand how LGBTQ+ people feel, receiving this hate every day of our lives. Maybe that'll explain why we want an event just for us.

Aria T'Loak (#58686) Can you please just stop complaining. I said five million times I understand how it gets in some countries, I told you I spoke to someone who made me understand. But if they didn't, I would have hated this event as over here, moggi is no big deal. I grew up with my parents' best friends being a gay couple. That's like 20 years ago. Okay? Starting to get it?
Geez, we're not all primates that throw bananas at everyone that acts different from other people.

And again, yes I understand moggi can be horrendous in some societies. I fully understand that. But by this principle you should make a fibromyalgia month as well. A lot of family and friends have it and get called at for acting ridiculous. They can die from it too. But no one cares. Everyone on this site has problems you don't know anything about. I get that mogii can get a lot of hate, but there's plenty of other things out there in the world that get a lot of hate as well. Don't act like you're the only one.
Cause hey, I don't think there's an "immigrant month" here either, while they get shot just for being a different skin color too. So yeah, don't think you're just the only one.

And now you have officially made me sick of this event. After someone explained to me what this was all about, I had nothing but praise. Heck, I even raffled away my pride rose because I felt you guys deserved it for going through so much in your lives. But you are an absolute disgrace. You are being such a narrow minded person it's ridiculous.

And here's where I will sign out of this place because hatred sucks and I don't want anything to do with it. I'm a loving person, open minded and I don't care who people kiss, what color someone's skin is, what belief someone has. But this is just ridiculous. I hope to never talk to people as close minded as you again.

Oh no, oppressed people actually complain about their oppression, how dare they not happily accept their oppression.

Can I please just stop complaining? No, I can't, that's the point. As long as people like me get abused and harassed and murdered, I will not stop complaining about the problems society has, problems that need to be fixed as soon as possible.

Also, someone else's problems do not change my problems. I had the flu last year and it didn't go away because my sister broke her leg. Amazing concept.

This is why Pride events are so incredibly necessary. Because oppressed genders and sexualities get told we are whiny and narrow-minded and over-reacting when we voice our frustration with the oppression we live with every day of our lives.

J.A.K. (#15) I apologize for this discussion coming up. I believe discussion is important to spread knowledge, but that's opinion. Please know that I am still incredibly thankful for this event and the way you went about it. (Even if, as mentioned by another user, an FAQ might have helped some people understand certain issues.)
