Pride - Update 3!

Site Update

"Hey, hey! Look over here! I got in some more stuff for you to buy! but this time, I'm only taking mochi, because those are so, so tasty..."

The final round's currency is the Pride Mochi Packet! You can use these items to trade in for Event Shop content, or you can save them until after the event and open them into little Mochis (collectibles). Your choice!

This round, you can get a trunk of many different colored wings to celebrate your favorite identity.

There's also a box of sparkles that'll give you lots of sparkly backgrounds for your HA!

There's a lot of great items in the shop this time, so why not go take a peek?

Be sure to check out all the great pets - and some of them have very educational descriptions that you can check out in the Aywapedia.

Were you bummed to only have two Pride Candles? The Pride Candle is hanging out in the USD Shop for $5.00 so you can collect any other Teos you happen to desire. It'll leave the shop on the 1st, so act fast if you want one.

Who's excited for the 30th, the finale of the event? Get ready to open sticker packets and mochi boxes, and some other cool stuff for the final part of Pride Month!

I asked for ally items and got laughed at. Just ally. Nothing straight. That's the gratitude I get on this site for supporting. It's wrong in about every way. Allies should at least be involved as they are involved in the Pride discussion. And items are not needed for me, but respect is.

Oh, Fannish, I am super appreciative of what you did for the event, I'm so happy how there are Pride things!

Sany (#67610) Nope. If you insist it be just Ally, not pride and supporter, as the items are now, no.

The planned items were all based on general support and highlighting the danger proactive and vocal supporters willingly put themselves into. That the allies that risk their lives to support us need to have pride in themselves, and that we appreciate the support those brave souls give.

This whole I need an ally only item obsession is driving me batty though.

There are- I just counted, 67 items that mention "Supporting Xgroup" to offer allies total connection and ABSOLUTE inclusion.

The fact that it doesn't read "Straight Allies" or JUST Allies (which, yanno, the comment a few folks made about how a pure ally item seemed toxic now makes more sense, I was adamant we have it at first, but through this event I have learned WHY it is so toxic), is the only thing NOT included.

By wanting separate items that say ONLY allies on it, you are distancing yourself from the group you say you are supporting.

You are, subconsciously, othering us. To demand a separate Allies Only item, is to say that we're not sharing your battle- we're being better people, we don't HAVE to be here, we don't need, as decent human beings, to support the idea that you abnormal, lesser minorities have a need to be here.

It's NOT conscious. But it'd be the exact same thing, in a race equivalent, of going to a prayer circle for the survivors of the South Carolina church massacre and making a point to say that "While I'm White, I'm also Christian, so I'll pray for you" which has the unsaid implication "despite the fact that you're Black, thus an alien and different culture and people, and I'm a nice normal White person."

It's in all these social queues and unsaid implications on a societal level.

You really really don't MEAN to say this, but without understanding your inherent privilege you can't can't SEE the second meaning to all these little microagressions.

TLDR version:

ANYONE COMPLAINING THAT THERE ARE NO ALLY ITEMS NEEDS TO GO READ DESCRIPTIONS.

I spent nearly 10 hours working on those changes, and writing out the pet descriptions and item descriptions in such a way that they might be educational and INCLUSIVE wherever possible, specifically to INCLUDE **ALL** Allies.

Also, I am now going to go to bed- I popped on to say my piece, I have been out all day, and I have had a fairly good day. I have not read my PMs yet, and probably won't till tomorrow. Anyone that sent me PMs, I am sorry for the delay, but I just, I can't right now.

A person I really respected, who helped me when I first started this site, has said some really really hurtful and toxic things, and I know they mean well, but, no. NO. Not okay to me.

The newest currency is a lot more common and yet they are still popping up very infrequently. *Adventuring in the desert* I'm finding Terrariums more often than the more common mochi packets! Mind boggling

Phantom Butterfly (#14055) try grasslands or seaside, both have been very kind to me.

Uhm I never complained about there not being any ally items, I just don't like how people forget to treat each other with respect. I thaked you adn as a result you bitched at me. Such adult. Much wow. So uh, whatever, learn to read or go home. I'm done trying to be nice at all of you. If some of the best people in the world weren't mogii, this event would've made me distantiate from this whole mogii. Way to go for trying to get more awareness. Hah.
