Welcome to a wonderful December full of merriment.

We will also be collecting pet PSDs directly from the thread, so you no longer have to send them in. However, please make sure you keep the links active for two weeks (at least until mid-December).
The Essence of December 2014 is designed in honor of Read a New Book Month!
Using this potion on your active pet will randomly change it into one of the colorations above. There is magic in literature after all. *wink*
This month's premium item is a Lockbox! It regenerates once a week and allows you to permanently lock your pet from modification (zapping, potioning, etc).

We are on our tenth Lunaris in the celtic tree zodiac series.

Our favorite Nova custom items have moved to the Premium Outlet, where they will reside for the full month of December. In January and February, they will migrate back to the GP/BP Shops.
But there are, of course, a lot of special things coming up this month too...

Make sure you visit the Advent Calendar each day this month for a nice seasonal item and a little BP bonus!
Your favorite holiday greeting cards, the Merry AyMas Card, can now be found stocking in the BP Shop! When you select the Use option on the card, the user you send it to will receive a notification that says: (Sender name and ID) thinks you are special and wished you a Merry AyMas!! Stock up on these to send to friends and strangers alike to make their day a little brighter. :3
Coding Corner
A monthly update from behind the scenes.
- Forum ping groups are working again! If you'd like to ping a group of people at once find a fitting tag and have your friends subscribe to it - no more need for large ping lists with everyone's IDs!
- keep in mind that the deadline for NaNoWriMo submissions is December 10th at 11:59 p.m, so if you would like to join and earn a prize there is still time!
- although we haven't yet decided where it will be located, rest assured that there will be a link for easy glittering slab access added eventually.
- the lair upgrade, too, is still undergoing some modification
- of course we also have holiday festivities and surprises coming up~
... on the note of surprises, check out Helping Hands, Happy Families, a thread for you (US residents) to nominate a family member for an extra christmas present!
We're still decorating the Holiday Lane and trimming the Holiday Tree, but both should be ready soon! :)

Aethubryn (#13018) I can say from personal experience that a vial of the battle soul works on locked pets =)
But I'd very much like to see a list somewhere of things that can and can't be changed for locked pets. For example, what about recolor potions? You can hardly use those on the wrong pet =p

In order to tell if a pet is locked. you have to go to pets -> my pets. Put the pet you want to check into the quickview. then select the link for that pet to lock the pet. If its already locked, it will say such. If its not been locked, it will ask if you want to spend 5gp

JScofi (#49041) I think Tiger Love inquired about something on the profile in particular, possibly so people who want to buy a pet can tell in advance whether it's locked or not and don't get any nasty surprises after the sale.

I looked though, and couldn't find anything on the profile indicating if its locked or not. I even started adding "Locked" to the pet description to keep track of that myself, which would just be trusting the user who owns it.
I don't think it will be a high priority for staff to fix this though, as someone buying a pet generally wants the pet the way it currently looks. Locking is a nice bonus

I know I have bought higher level pets from shops not because I wanted the pet but to potion so if I liked it I could use it for adventure. That's the only reason I was wondering. I wouldn't want to spend money on a potion pet (also bought 1 bp to 5 bp pets) when I didn't have any to overlay or potion.
Only reason I asked if it doesn't happen it's fine but atleast it's an idea just in case it might be needed someday:-) I figured something like a little masterlock on the pet page or something either shown open or locked would be cool. If it's ever needed or an idea.
It may not be even on staffs radar to do and that's fine. Atleast it's an idea for the future if it ever is needed right:-).
Thank you for this staff I can finally be happy knowing I will never overlay my main pet I use finally not a worry like before!

The Lock box is awesome.. I saw it in the Item database and was hoping it would be the premium item.. awesome.
