"You can now call me a Kityip!"
The hybrid previously known as a Bunyip has been renamed to Kityip, per a community suggestion, since the original unintentionally shared a name with a mythical creature from Aboriginal/Australian mythology. Our apologies for any confusion or upset this might have caused, as the name was purely meant to be a bunny/fox combo, and was not intended as a cultural slight, and was an oversight on our part.
Thank you for the feedback as always! We hope everyone can enjoy this new hybrid. :3

Eh, yeah you are very right. I just really liked the name, Bun is what I refer to Bunnies, yip is a cute little noise. So when is was first introduced I saw is as a Bunny making a cute little yip noise, not a monster. I understand peoples dislikes, but some of it seems a little over board to me. & it was a name I quite liked, I did not mean to belittle anyone by stating my opinion, nor did I expect this huge debate. I just would have REALLY liked a more heads up, or a little more of an option to change the name rather than a less than a week change. Thank you for all of your opinions whether they were a little hateful (I have feelings ya know) or actually down to earth & respectful. (Although others were quite blunt & without a spec of knowledge)

It IS a cool name.
I really appreciate your being willing to discuss and debate this and keeping an open mind. Thank you. As for a heads up... yeah, there, I got nothing. It was a long suggestions forum thread, but there was no mention of it anywhere else that I know of. That is a staff decision, though, so what can ya do, hm? I definitely get that, if it seemingly came out of the blue, it could be pretty off-putting, especially if you don't really know much about the reasons and history that sparked the change.

I'm glad to find so many people seem to like my Bunkit suggestion, but I doubt it will be taken under consideration, though I do like the sound of that more, bunyip was cuter, but at least bunkit doesn't seem so forced and as I said, baby foxes are also called kits, so it's like calling this a fox fox, and leaving off the bunny part. Or if you really wanna combine pet names, lepmi is cute.

Thank you very much, at least we had a good outcome, although there for awhile I thought it was going to get ugly XC

But it is not just how the name sounds.
if the name had been kept as Bunyip and an Aborigine/Torres Strait Islander had seen it, they may have been deeply offended.
There are many things that can be used in a way that can offend the Indigenous Culture, such as we are not allowed to put up images of deceased Aboriginal people without a warning as it is against the indigenous law.
While I myself am not Indigenous, I live in Australia and I am influenced a lot by Indigenous law.
Thank you for changing the name, even with so many people disagreeing.

Even with the name change. I'm still not crazy about this hybrid.
