HA Contest Update

Contests

I would like to take a moment to address the idea that people are having of selling HA colours for others to submit to the monthly contest.

This is strictly prohibited.

All HA entries - base or colour - has to be entirely your own work, as with all contest entries (unless otherwise specified by the admin running it).

Anyone found to have entered contest content that they have purchased from another user, or to have sold contest content to another user, will be banned from all aspects of the contest for three months. Repeated infractions can incur more serious penalty.

This may seem harsh but I am hoping that this news post will be enough to deter people.

I am confused. Is the HA only for those that MADE the items to show off or for those that buy the items (Site/usermade) and combine them to make a lovely outfit to show off?

Belle Frost (#52048) This news post is directed toward those entering or planning on entering the current Monthly HA Contest, which is currently in its Coloring phase.

Oh... Now I see. I totally didn't understand what was being said. Sorry about that. *Been awhile since somethings gone over my head*

Not a problem. =) Glad I could clear up some confusion.

Phoenix (#5088) My guess is that it's because f you can sell a design to someone, that's a guaranteed small payment, vs a potential large payment. Winning the HA contest is kinda like playing the lottery, only instead of buying a ticket you're spending time and energy on a design. No guarantee that you'll get paid for it. If someone wants to buy the design from you, then that's a guarantee. Though, naturally, of dubious morality and against the site rules.

if you sell a design to someone just to sell it. And they enter it are you at fault for selling them the design as well as them submitting it? o.o? just curious. As i know sometimes its not the sellers intent to sell it for that reason. so wanted to makes sure x.x!

Denixas Painted Pup (#40808) Considering the context and how the HA base is only available through these monthly base/colour contest things, there is no point to sell it for just selling it without it not being submitted to the contest. Like, you can't buy a design on a monthly HA base and make it yourself using CIPs; you either trash it or submit it to the contest. By selling a design on a monthly HA base, you are consenting to the fact that the buyer is, probably, most likely, going to submit it to the contest. Which means, regardless of "intent", you're still consenting to it.

Oh i took it for everything on here not just HA things (i dont do any HA things unless coloring but thats for my own benefit if i do). i was mainly concerned about selling edits and sketches of pets. i didnt want to sell a pet design/edit to someone and me get in fault with it. like premades. just curious x3

Denixas Painted Pup (#40808) "Anyone found to have entered contest content that they have purchased from another user, or to have sold contest content to another user," <= Straight from this news post. By what this says, the buyer gets in trouble no matter what. They bought it and are consciously submitting it to a contest, claiming it as their own (even if not outright, it is implied and can be considered art theft, even). Now, the second half, "Anyone found to have sold contest content to another user", I think the term "contest content" makes a difference and probably addresses your seller intent issue. Like for the Monthly HA contest, especially the colouring portion, you are most definitely selling contest content; there is no argument about it. But for a pet design contest... well. Eh... that would need some official clarification, but I wouldn't think the seller would get in trouble if they did not consciously know or acknowledge that the buyer was going to submit it to a contest prior to the completion of the sale.
