TOS Update 7/18/2014

Rules

Aywas has updated its Terms of Service to add a new section under "Forbidden Material":

"No user may post any material that is sexually explicit or that is illegal in any way on Aywas.com. Users may not post about, mention, reference, or otherwise discuss the following topics: the desire to commit animal abuse, bestiality, child sexuality or pedophilia, warez or hacked programs, suicide, cult creation, or threatening of, or the killing of another person, both on Aywas and off. "

Aywas is not a place to discuss the desire to commit animal abuse or methods in which to do so. Thank you for your understanding and observance of our new rule.

Could we perhaps have the suicide help resources listed somewhere in a sticky? I'm not sure where people initially went to discuss such things---- probably the Help thread I guess. It would be nice to add a sticky there so that when they are seeking help they can find it easily, since they are likely no longer supposed to make topics requesting help, I presume?

and perhaps the links to help for self-harm and other various things they may need help with as well, which I presume are likely disallowed on this site?

Hiiro (#755) (Not sure if pinging works normally in news posts so I apologize if I fudge that up!)

Do you happen to know the specific laws that deal with self harm ideation/depression discussions online? I completely understand that liability and bad press could be disastrous for a small site like Aywas--I'd just really like to educate myself on this topic further.

Seriously? Someone was discussing abusing animals on a website that's at LEAST 50% animals? How stupid and cruel can people get?!

Ah... interesting, Hiiro. Thanks for the insight regarding US law requiring this part of the TOS to be added. Kind of reminds me of the part in my company guidelines against human trafficking, but that's only because they are an international company and so are required to have a rule against it.

Anyway, I'm glad to know this community is as against animal cruelty as I am.

One additional question, actually - if someone is worried that they are going to self-harm, or if they are trying to recover from that, could they ask for support from their friends here? It's not advocating the activity. Aywas has always seemed a really warm, caring, awesome community so that might need a little clarification.
