Dog Week!

Site Update

fauna_frisbee.pngcollectable_newdogleash.pngcollectable_dogwhistle.png

Are you a dog lover? Have your pets been begging you for a trip to somewhere other than the Bridge or been asking for a new toy?

Well, with the help of a Slashbot, Ryou (#81) has declared it to be Dog Week here on Aywas!

Welcome to the Dog Park!

This adventure region is filled with canine-approved collectables and packed with pets representing breeds from the Chihuahua to the Great Dane.

Let's first take a walk through the items!

kibbles.png

Your goal is to collect scoops of Kibble as you meander through the park.
These are account-bound points that you will encounter in random piles of 1-10.
If you want to track your Kibble progress, swing by the Seasonal Shop; you can see your total at any time.

The seven items above are collectables that you can turn in at the Museum (and hoard or proudly display in your gallery). In exchange for your contribution, the curator will offer you...

magic_redcollar.png

... a snazzy Red Collar!

This item will enable you to create a limited-time Mongrel SCC base with up to 30% edits.
(This item will also be available in the Seasonal Shop, but for a high-maintenance pooch price!)

Above are Ryou's two founders. Graymare's calculations say these are 8% different.

The Red Collar works through 11:59 p.m. on September 29th, then becomes a collectable.

Our lively park is also filled with eager dogs of all ages and breeds!

You'll notice that the rarities of these pets are geared toward the lower end of the spectrum, but make sure you're not attempting to catch a pet that belongs to another park goer! (We have enough problems with Fluffy...)

Speaking of rampant pet numbers and problems, I'd like to bring your attention to a very special item we are offering for a limited time:

magic_luxurycollar.png

The Luxury Collar creates a Papillon-based SCC custom (with up to 30% edits) and is a reward that we will give you in exchange for a donation to a (local) shelter of your choice.

Shelters have a lot of animals to take care of, and are very expensive to run. Even with dedicated volunteers, shelters still need everything from food, medicine, crates, and bedding to cleaning supplies, storage materials, and standard office supplies. While some shelters have a list of accepted materials on their websites, a great way to help out your community shelter is with a monetary donation, because the shelter can then put those funds toward the areas that need it most.

I should probably show you the pretty Papillon SCC the collar creates, shouldn't I? :3

Above are Ryou's two founders. These come in at 21% different.

To obtain your Luxury Collar, all you have to do is donate to a local shelter of your choice and send me your receipt/proof. To obtain a Luxury Collar, the minimum donation amount is 10 USD (or equivalent) and your donation must be made between September 23rd and September 29th to qualify for this item. However, the Luxury Collar item itself works indefinitely.

*Please note that some shelters have minimum donation requirements, so be mindful of that. For our purposes, we will give you a Luxury Collar for every 10 USD (or equivalent) you donate to a local shelter. So if you donate $10 to a shelter, you will get 1 Luxury Collar. If you donate $50, you will get 5 Luxury Collars. If you donate $15, you will get 1 Luxury Collar.*

We are asking that the donation be made to a local shelter by Ryou's request, and because that is where your money can make a strong, immediate impact. National organizations that advocate for animal welfare are wonderful and worthy of support, but a local shelter doesn't have a national stage and could most certainly benefit from your help. If you don't have a community shelter in your city, there should be one in your county or in a nearby metropolitan area (or an area of your choice; I don't live in Chicago, or even Illinois, but if I wanted to donate to a shelter there, that would qualify).

Edit: Yes, pet rescues also work for this. :)

Once you donate, simply PM me with your receipt or proof of donation.
If you want to send your proof as an attachment, you can also email me at [email protected].
When emailing, please include your name and user ID, otherwise I won't know who to deliver the Luxury Collar to!

Any questions about the Luxury Collar/donation, PM me. :)

Seasonal Shop details will be coming soon!
(Hint: All the items for this event have been uploaded, so you can get a sneak peek by checking out the item database, and it's probably a fair bet that we'll toss in some pets, too.)

Your time in the Dog Park is meant to be a relaxing walk that hopefully teaches you a little something about a new dog breed, and brings awareness and love to shelters.

Oh, and one more thing! I have someone here that would like to say hello. :3
(And he's been behaving through this entire news post!)

coda1.png

.. maybe I misheard him. Apparently he was saying "nom" instead of "hi."

coda2.png

Now there's a smile! He did want to say hello after all.

coda3.png

Looks like he's already set to go exploring!
(This adorable dog is Ryou's, and his name is Coda.
Be sure to thank both Ryou and Coda for the event, as it was made in honor of him.)

All deadlines for this event (Adventure, Seasonal Shop, Red Collar) are the same--September 29th at 11:59 p.m.

kibbles.png

What are you waiting for? Grab your pet companion and head on out to the Dog Park!
It could get ruff out there, so take a net and a few snacks, too.

@37548
I've had a couple messages say the speeding by thing but the Clover Stone IS working for me, I'm still getting the pets with the higher rarities here and there, mixed in with the merchants and other event notices.

Does anyone else see the problem with the Tri Bull Terrier Melo's tail in the Aywapedia? ;-;

So we foster families didn't get an answer back about if that counts enough for one of the special collars. Is that a possibility or not? I can get proof from the HSUV if that's what's needed, and I can provide pics of the adorable baby kittens I've got in the nursery at the moment...

Also, what about a pit? Why CAN'T we have one? I've got a GREAT ambassador for the breed and will gladly share pics of her with the site if you would *pretty please* make one...

(I didnt realise there were so many WTNV fans on here, gosh! I didn't expect to see FOUR comments on just the first page about the dog park! Remember, folks. Don't go near the dog park! Don't look at the hooded figures.) On the bright side, this event looks super cute oh my goodness. :)

I'm having issues with uploading the SCC pet? "Pet image is cut off, lineart is fuzzy, or appears to have been rotated or resized." is what I've been told. But, with as massive as the original lines are, there is not way for me to resize it WITHOUT it being fuzzy. :/ Seriously, the base is fantastic, but if we aren't allowed to resize, then WHY have it so big??

I'm new to using photoshop, can anyone help me out a little? I'm just wondering, once I download the PSD, how do I make just the tail and ears I want visible, and make the other tail and ears disappear?

the mongral psd is messed up, the entry says it must be 200 by 200 but the psd is set at 800 by 800

Hmm, I hope it gets sorted out soon :/

@14192, .:bot-girl:. the reason the psd is so large is so people can work markings and coloring on it to submit the colored/edited image it needs to then be resized down to 200x200 to be acceptable size for the site.

How do you resize the Mongrel PSD on GIMP?
