Yoo hoo! *waves hanky* It's me again with another special delivery!

Did you know that today is Book Lover's Day? No? Well, neither did I until Shaylmesse (#13314) brought it to my attention-- and I'm blushing to have to admit my ignorance, because there are few greater pleasures than curling up with a good book! If you're like me and would just love to have your own little personal library, why don't you try Shaylmesse's gift on for size?

The Book Lover's Background is available in the Advent Calendar for the duration of today and tomorrow, up until August 10th, 11:59pm.

Ooh, but wait! There's more!

Tell me your favourite book (and why!) in the comments and you could be in with a chance of winning this set of custom crystals! I'm in need of some good new holiday reads and I'm sure I can't be the only one. :3 Chime in by August 10th, 11:59pm to ensure your spot in the draw (one entry per account, please).

Ooh, but wait! There's even more!!!

Do you remember I mentioned earlier in the week that I was having a tidy of my inbox? The invitation (and encouragement!) to nudge your outstanding Artist Pay is still open, but today I am asking you to bump up PMs pertaining to Lunarii switches. That means if you picked up the wrong Lunaris for the month and you're still waiting on me to swap 'em around for you, point yourself to my inbox sharpish!

Phew! Okay! That's everything - probably! Who knows! Yay! Exclamation marks!

Thank you for the background, Shaylmesse!

Just smell those new pages!

I absolutely adore the Forbidden Game Trilogy by LJ Smith. As part of a series, it would be hard to choose just one. With a strong female lead, a deliciously wicked villain (with a surprisingly human side), hints of mythology and a strong does of human fear and triumph (though with a dash of regret at the end), as well as romance laced with hints of danger... Well, despite being one of the shorter series I've read, I haven't found any books I like *more*, though some are close on the list!

Uhm, I don't really have a favorite book, but... if you want a good laugh, try reading an really, really old book like The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole. It was written in 1764, but the language is easily understandable. It was supposed to be "scary" and is considered the first gothic novel, but to a modern audience, it's simply hilarious instead! Rather than scary vampires or anything, the "villain" is a giant floating helmet... xD It might not really be most people's style, but it's pretty amusing, which is why I loved it!

The Unwind series by Neal Shusterman is my absolute favorite. The third book is coming out in October and I preordered it last month >w< I looove the flow of the plot and the new characters are just adorable! The entire fandom hates my favorite character, but I love him and he's half of my OTP (StarkeyxBam forever, even if it's so painfully not canon, they're just made for each other~)

Pfft. One favorite book. That's the stuff of nonsense.

I'm currently reading A NATURAL HISTORY OF DRAGONS: A MEMOIR BY LADY TRENT by Marie Brennan, it's quite good. BROTHER TO DRAGONS, COMPANION TO OWLS by Jane Lindskold is an old favorite. Also, Martha Wells puts out some really amazing books, you should totes check them out.

The Pride of Chanur (and its various sequels), by C. J. Cherryh, is one of the best sci-fi books I've ever read -- I'm a sucker for world/universe-building, exobiology and sociology, and complex plots and relationships, and the series has them all (as well as a unique take on a first-contact story).

The Giver by Lois Lowry because it's really interesting, original, and well written.

The Gates of Sleep by Mercedes Lackey. I like it because it's an interesting twist on Sleeping Beauty, and I find myself wishing I could be the protagonist <3 --Rosemary

Auuggghh!!! What should I pick? I think Ill go with Out of My Mind, by Sharon Draper. It isnt a very large book, but its a great story about the early life of a disabled girl.

Zombies vs. Unicorns, because it's about two of my favorite things!

Picking favorites is hard! And I'm guessing manga doesn't count. ovo;; But, I must say I love the Chronicles of Nick! I have thing for demons. *giggles* But one of my favorite things about it is that the main character -- Nick, of course -- is actually from another series by the same author. The Chronicles of Nick is a teen series looking into his life when he was younger! The other series is adult (and he isn't the main I think) and my mom had been reading it when she recommended this to me. Its fun to be reading our own things but be able to have characters that are shared and be able to tell each other what they were like when they were younger or older.
