Yoo hoo! *waves hanky* It's me again with another special delivery!
Did you know that today is Book Lover's Day? No? Well, neither did I until Shaylmesse (#13314) brought it to my attention-- and I'm blushing to have to admit my ignorance, because there are few greater pleasures than curling up with a good book! If you're like me and would just love to have your own little personal library, why don't you try Shaylmesse's gift on for size?
The Book Lover's Background is available in the Advent Calendar for the duration of today and tomorrow, up until August 10th, 11:59pm.
Ooh, but wait! There's more!
Tell me your favourite book (and why!) in the comments and you could be in with a chance of winning this set of custom crystals! I'm in need of some good new holiday reads and I'm sure I can't be the only one. :3 Chime in by August 10th, 11:59pm to ensure your spot in the draw (one entry per account, please).
Ooh, but wait! There's even more!!!
Do you remember I mentioned earlier in the week that I was having a tidy of my inbox? The invitation (and encouragement!) to nudge your outstanding Artist Pay is still open, but today I am asking you to bump up PMs pertaining to Lunarii switches. That means if you picked up the wrong Lunaris for the month and you're still waiting on me to swap 'em around for you, point yourself to my inbox sharpish!
Phew! Okay! That's everything - probably! Who knows! Yay! Exclamation marks!
Thank you for the background, Shaylmesse!
Just smell those new pages!

I cannot suggest any fictional titles because... I just don't read much fiction (so skip this paragraph and go to my next one to save time, if needed, and perhaps consider my recommendation). I'm boring like that. Any fiction I have read over the years, were not quite able to blow me away by employing the same manner of elegance that some of the intellectual writers of the non-fictional varieties do. I'm just that sort of human. However, I did find the biological and astrophysical (and the manners of questionable approaches to logical dilemmas) science-fiction converged within Eric Nylund's Halo titles (in particular: The Fall of Reach; The Flood) to be a satisfactory read when I was younger.
If I am to recommend a book to read, (provided that non-fictional titles are acceptable) of all the titles and authors I have encountered, I would undoubtedly recommend the 2009 non-fictional title 'The Greatest Show on Earth' by the notorious Richard Dawkins - the most elegant of all his writings (in my opinion). I found it to be the only book that I have ever found to be inspirational and deeply informative. To a materialistic scientist like myself, the book is beautiful poetry, with over 150 years of progressive knowledge, since Charles Darwin, eloquently summarized and so simply presented for anybody to read.

It's a toss up (really? pick one?) between To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Tomorrow When the War Began by John Marsden, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and the entire Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. I have read all of these over and over again, and I'm sure there is some deep-seeded psychological reason for that particular grouping of novels, but there you have it, :-)

Artemis fowl series<3 It's not your "everyday fantasy story" and it got me from the very beginning. You get to know the persons very well withouth it spoiling the books too much, and every adventure is a new one but has a bit of flash backs to previous ones witch is nice. Just love those books!

I will be honest I don't have a favorite book. Though I do have a favorite anime book series that I read. Ouran Highschool Host Club is my favorite series ever!!! I love it because the characters are funny, there is a cute story line and because it is a comical love story.

Sort of tough for me to pick a favorite but I guess the one I re-read the most is Haruki Murakami's "Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World." I love everything Murakami and he's in top form in this one; it's two intertwined love stories told in parallel, one that takes place in a fantasy setting and one that takes place in a sci-fi setting. It's a pretty quick read with lots of adventure and weird atmosphere.

I, Robot by Isaac Asimov (not the movie, that was stupid). It's a series of short stories framed as an old robopsychologist telling a reporter about the history of robots - how they went from mute nursemaids to running the world. Throughout, the robots are bound by the famous 3 rules of roobotics.

My favorite book, which I read when I was in 4th grade about 100 years ago. Is "A Princess of Mars" By Edgar Rice Burroughs. To my delight part of this series, 2 books were made into a Movie Called John Carter, which combines the first and Last books in the 11 book series, the first written in 1911. "John Carter of Mars" Is the last book in the series, the first being A Princess of Mars. The movie followed the storyline and for a brief time took me to Mars and I got to revisit, the place and Author that began my life long love of Science Fiction/Fantasy..

I have so many favourite books, it is terribly hard to narrow it down!
One of my all-time faves has to be "The Lies of Locke Lamora" by Scott Lynch - it is a fantasy novel with all kinds of mind games and tricks and the characters really draw you in.
I also love anything by Joe Abercrombie - particularly his "First Law" Trilogy. Lots of great fighting and violence - definitely a great series if you like "gritty fantasy"!
