Yoo hoo! *waves hanky* It's me again with another special delivery!

Did you know that today is Book Lover's Day? No? Well, neither did I until Shaylmesse (#13314) brought it to my attention-- and I'm blushing to have to admit my ignorance, because there are few greater pleasures than curling up with a good book! If you're like me and would just love to have your own little personal library, why don't you try Shaylmesse's gift on for size?

The Book Lover's Background is available in the Advent Calendar for the duration of today and tomorrow, up until August 10th, 11:59pm.

Ooh, but wait! There's more!

Tell me your favourite book (and why!) in the comments and you could be in with a chance of winning this set of custom crystals! I'm in need of some good new holiday reads and I'm sure I can't be the only one. :3 Chime in by August 10th, 11:59pm to ensure your spot in the draw (one entry per account, please).

Ooh, but wait! There's even more!!!

Do you remember I mentioned earlier in the week that I was having a tidy of my inbox? The invitation (and encouragement!) to nudge your outstanding Artist Pay is still open, but today I am asking you to bump up PMs pertaining to Lunarii switches. That means if you picked up the wrong Lunaris for the month and you're still waiting on me to swap 'em around for you, point yourself to my inbox sharpish!

Phew! Okay! That's everything - probably! Who knows! Yay! Exclamation marks!

Thank you for the background, Shaylmesse!

Just smell those new pages!

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer.
Yes, there is a movie, and while the movie was good, it just can't do justice to the multiple plot lines or just sheer artistry of the book (what it does follow it follows well, but it's nearly impossible to do the whole thing on a movie).
While you're at it, you might as well read Foer's other novel, Everything Is Illuminated. Also fabulous.

My favorite book is called, "Ang Diary Ng Panget". In English, it's called, "The Diary of an Ugly Person".(unavailable yet in English though) It's a Filipino-made book. It's a very romantic, heart-warming and exciting story of an ordinary, but strong-willed ugly high school girl who falls in love with a very rich, handsome and arrogant guy. It's a very cool story and in that story you can read the hardships of the girl who strives to be a better person.

You're making me pick just one book? What a cruel person you are! But if I have to choose one... it'd have to be Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I'm a huge Potterhead and Deathly Hallows is the perfect conclusion to a perfect story -- I love listening to it on audio on long drives!

My favorite series is called Farworld by J. Scott Savage. The story starts by focusing on a crippled kid named Marcus, who gets picked on because he is stuck in a wheelchair, not that that gets him down any. He is not afraid to take on bullies head on or use his 'talents' to dodge them. Sometimes enough is enough though, and to escape, he dreams of Farworld, a place full of magic, where animals tell corny jokes, and as far from his life as possible. Meanwhile on Farworld, kindhearted Kyja is the only girl who seems to have no magic and struggles to fit in. But when a dark force tracks them down, she saves Marcus and they team up and hop between Earth to Farwold just to survive, the fate of both worlds on their shoulders. The author strikes a great balance of humor and seriousness, has great characters, a unique take on magic, and their world comes to life in your mind. Good luck finding it in stores, Amazon might be the best bet. It is not well known, and comes from the kid's section, but it is worth tracking down. :)

Oh man, hard to choose just one book. I am currently into a series called The Nine Lives of Romeo Crumb. It is a bit of adventure with the main character being a cat. Favorite is it's for little children but reads more like adult with the fight scenes. I believe it has been taken off the self because of the volience. But has me so captivated that I cry or share the emotions.

It's nearly impossible to choose just one book, I have so many favourites. But if I must, I'll go with Raymond E. Feist's Magician. I love the whole series of course, but the first one is, in my opinion, the best. My reason is (other than awesome storytelling and brilliant plot twists) character development. Something lacking on many books, Feist can take two simple young boys, no different from any others, and turn them into Powers in a believable way. As you read you see them change in small and large ways, just as real people change as they grow up.
Also, you know, Dragons!

My favourite is Watership Down. I love the imagery in it, and the author's creativity (it's about a group of rabbits, but the author makes up a very immersive culture & language for them). It's a really fun read overall. It has stories within the main story, lots of different characters and their different personalities. The genre is probably adventure. I reread it every few years, it's just such a great book.

My favorite book is Another Fine Myth, of the Myth Adventures series by Robert Lynn Asprin and Jody Lynn Nye. The whole series is set in a neat fantasy world with tons of great humor and painful puns. This is the book that made me laugh most of all those I have read. It's like Hitchhiker's guide, but in a fantasy setting, a bit dirtier, and done far better.

Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry
It's part of a series called The Giver, the whole series is amazing!

Watership Down by Richard Adams. You get to sort of see into the world of Bunnies, and I love that they have their own names for things. Makes me cry every time at the end though ;-;
