Yoo hoo! *waves hanky* It's me again with another special delivery!
Did you know that today is Book Lover's Day? No? Well, neither did I until Shaylmesse (#13314) brought it to my attention-- and I'm blushing to have to admit my ignorance, because there are few greater pleasures than curling up with a good book! If you're like me and would just love to have your own little personal library, why don't you try Shaylmesse's gift on for size?
The Book Lover's Background is available in the Advent Calendar for the duration of today and tomorrow, up until August 10th, 11:59pm.
Ooh, but wait! There's more!
Tell me your favourite book (and why!) in the comments and you could be in with a chance of winning this set of custom crystals! I'm in need of some good new holiday reads and I'm sure I can't be the only one. :3 Chime in by August 10th, 11:59pm to ensure your spot in the draw (one entry per account, please).
Ooh, but wait! There's even more!!!
Do you remember I mentioned earlier in the week that I was having a tidy of my inbox? The invitation (and encouragement!) to nudge your outstanding Artist Pay is still open, but today I am asking you to bump up PMs pertaining to Lunarii switches. That means if you picked up the wrong Lunaris for the month and you're still waiting on me to swap 'em around for you, point yourself to my inbox sharpish!
Phew! Okay! That's everything - probably! Who knows! Yay! Exclamation marks!
Thank you for the background, Shaylmesse!
Just smell those new pages!

My favorite is Pride and Prejudice because the main female protagonist actually stands up for her opinions. XD

Once Upon A Marigold, by Jean Ferris is my favorite book because it's "part comedy, part love story, part everything-but-the-kitchen-sink" and it makes me smile like the cat that ate the canary. :D

It's hard for me to pick a favorite--I've always been a voracious reader. But my favorite author is Anne McAffrey.
Also, I'm in the middle of the last book of the Dark Jewel Trilogy by Anne Bishop. Really good books, but definitely more adultish in nature.

Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett. Manages to make me laugh and break my heart just a little every time. And I've read it way too many times.

Black Cross, by Greg Iles. Let me tell you, this book is fantastic. It's long, honestly, and sometimes there's pauses in between the action -- it's like fillers in an anime, and you think, COME ON COME ON COME ON, I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. But whenever I opened it, I was excited to get back to reading.
This book is about a secret mission conducted during WWII. My favorite character in it was Jonas Stern, a German-born Jew who goes to great lengths over and over again to fight for his people. Although he was considered a terrorist, it was clear from the start that he had nothing but good intentions. The book compelling; it tells its story from many point of views, from a Jewish woman in a concentration camp, to an American scientist who struggles to keep in touch with pacifism throughout the book, to a homosexual Jew doing his best to help the very people who scorn him. It's really a good book, and I loved everything about it -- it makes you feel something for characters you hardly know, and quickly. It feels fast-paced, you think you've only read a little when you've actually read a lot, and I love it.

Really hard to pick just one.
But one of my many favourite books is 'The Dovekeepers' by Alice Hoffman. Her writing style is lovely - it has this elegance to it, a sort of mystical element that she somehow manages to weave in. I reread it again and again mostly because her style is so enchanting.
It's a beautifully crafted piece of historical fiction that brings to life a period I hardly knew about - 70 CE and what happened in Masada. The four women who come to Masada all have their own stories, their own secrets and loves. They are strong, independent, unapologetic.
It really is a fascinating book. A long read, but well worth it. It reads beautifully and I'd recommend it to anyone who's interested really. I borrowed it from the library, initially, but was so impressed that I had to go out and get my own copy.

My two favorite series of books are Vampire academy and Bloodlines by Richelle Mead. I love both of them because of the plots and the characters.

My current favorite is a series of books by a self published author named Amanda Hocking and the books are the Trylle trilogy. I love the spin on trolls and their powers. The twists and turns keep you wanting to read more and I seriously hope she makes a continuation of the story one day.

Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen. It's the only series written to directly defy any and all fantasy conventions, and it's one of the few doorstopper length series that didn't get boring. It will make you laugh and cheer and break your heart all at once. Worth lots of reading.
