Yoo hoo! *waves hanky* It's me again with another special delivery!
Did you know that today is Book Lover's Day? No? Well, neither did I until Shaylmesse (#13314) brought it to my attention-- and I'm blushing to have to admit my ignorance, because there are few greater pleasures than curling up with a good book! If you're like me and would just love to have your own little personal library, why don't you try Shaylmesse's gift on for size?
The Book Lover's Background is available in the Advent Calendar for the duration of today and tomorrow, up until August 10th, 11:59pm.
Ooh, but wait! There's more!
Tell me your favourite book (and why!) in the comments and you could be in with a chance of winning this set of custom crystals! I'm in need of some good new holiday reads and I'm sure I can't be the only one. :3 Chime in by August 10th, 11:59pm to ensure your spot in the draw (one entry per account, please).
Ooh, but wait! There's even more!!!
Do you remember I mentioned earlier in the week that I was having a tidy of my inbox? The invitation (and encouragement!) to nudge your outstanding Artist Pay is still open, but today I am asking you to bump up PMs pertaining to Lunarii switches. That means if you picked up the wrong Lunaris for the month and you're still waiting on me to swap 'em around for you, point yourself to my inbox sharpish!
Phew! Okay! That's everything - probably! Who knows! Yay! Exclamation marks!
Thank you for the background, Shaylmesse!
Just smell those new pages!

Aw man, the Red Dwarf series is definitely worthy of a look. Based off a British sci-fi comedy show, written by the same two guys that wrote the (almost?) all the episodes and came up with the idea, etc. The first on is just Red Dwarf by Grant Naylor (their little joint name from Rob Grant and Doug Naylor :D). Second is Better Than Life, and then they split off and each wrote a third book, kind of alternate timeline stuff. Backwards by Rob Grant and Last Human by Doug Naylor. The basic premise of the series is that its three million years in the future, with the last surviving human who is a complete slob, a hologram of his dead roommate, a humanoid evolved from cats, and an android meant for cleaning who breaks his programming.
I could seriously go on about this series, it's really great. Very humourous, but also with interesting plotlines. Backwards is a bit more comedy compared to Last Human, which is darker and more story-driven.
I would also totally recommend checking out the TV series. It's pretty old now (started in 1988) but it is so entertaining. Some really original sci-fi ideas, too. It's a series I grew up on (though I really shouldn't have lol. Its pretty mature.) so it holds a special little place in my heart. I also find that people generally haven't heard of it, so I want to spread it around whenever possible cB

My favorite book has to be Tenderness by Robert Cormier. It is an emotionally touching story that I have read about 10 times now. The book is written from two points of view, the main female character, Lori, who is a teenager whose mother could care less about her, and the main male character Eric Poole, a convicted sociopathic murderer. The story is wonderfully written and I would recommend it to everyone~

Oh, that is a hard one. I love so many books...I guess right now one that comes to mind is The Sight by David Clement-Davies and its Sequel Fell. It is just a really good book. It is about a pack of wolves and their struggles against a former pack member and her pack, the elements, and humans. It is wonderfully written and if I could re-read it right now I would.

My favorite book is not just one but three books By Ellen Hopkins
Book one : Crank
Book two: Glass
book three: Fallout
It is written By the mother of daughter that was introduced to crank at a young age. But she wrote it as the daughter. and it follows her downward spiral into the life of a drug addict. It is not only a good read but an easy read. As it is written in short poems. I would tell everyone to give it a try.
Here is the listing for amazon. this is also a way for everyone to get a sneak peak into what the books are about.

wildwood by Colin Meloy it's a beautiful book full of adventure and twists and it's written by the lead singer of The decemberists, best thing is it also has beautiful arty illustrations, it is a book for adults (or teens) but it makes reading a bit extra special.

Hmmmm, that's a hard one. I'd have to say it's a tie between the Song of Ice and Fire series (aka Game of Thrones) and the Bartimeaus sequence starting with The Amulet of Samarkand. I love the character's comments in the footnotes XD

Abhorsen by Garth Nix is one of the few books I actually own. Thus it's a good book. It has magic and travelling and the different realms of death. Sirael and Lirael are also good and occur before the events of Abhorsen. Supposely there will be another book set in this world.

My all time favorite... is probably Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
It's a fun read (if you like british humor and sarcasm) and has some of the best quotable pieces of all time. I'm not kidding, just go to a quotes website and search for quotes by Douglas Adams. If you like them, then you should read the book.
Well, books.
Also the movie was a total disappointment, the books are much, much better.
