Yoo hoo! *waves hanky* It's me again with another special delivery!
Did you know that today is Book Lover's Day? No? Well, neither did I until Shaylmesse (#13314) brought it to my attention-- and I'm blushing to have to admit my ignorance, because there are few greater pleasures than curling up with a good book! If you're like me and would just love to have your own little personal library, why don't you try Shaylmesse's gift on for size?
The Book Lover's Background is available in the Advent Calendar for the duration of today and tomorrow, up until August 10th, 11:59pm.
Ooh, but wait! There's more!
Tell me your favourite book (and why!) in the comments and you could be in with a chance of winning this set of custom crystals! I'm in need of some good new holiday reads and I'm sure I can't be the only one. :3 Chime in by August 10th, 11:59pm to ensure your spot in the draw (one entry per account, please).
Ooh, but wait! There's even more!!!
Do you remember I mentioned earlier in the week that I was having a tidy of my inbox? The invitation (and encouragement!) to nudge your outstanding Artist Pay is still open, but today I am asking you to bump up PMs pertaining to Lunarii switches. That means if you picked up the wrong Lunaris for the month and you're still waiting on me to swap 'em around for you, point yourself to my inbox sharpish!
Phew! Okay! That's everything - probably! Who knows! Yay! Exclamation marks!
Thank you for the background, Shaylmesse!
Just smell those new pages!

Hmn. My favorite book? Well, I didn't read a whole lot when I was younger [I was super obsessed with horses -coughcough-], but in middle school I picked up one of the books from the Warriors series - by Erin Hunter. Ugh. I fell in love, even if I sobbed each time one of the cats died. I loved the idea of cats having their own society and rules and clans and such. I grew disinterested around the...third or fourth set of books, but the series still holds a dear place in my heart. Now I tend to read a little more and another series I love would be the Lorien Legacies by Pittacus Lore [which is a pseudonym for two authors - James Frey & Joby Hughes], but that's more of a guilty pleasure for me, haha. I can't get enough of the series though - I finished the last book in about a week or so. The last book - The Rise of Nine - would have to be my favourite from the series. I also just finished A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin [first book in the A Song of Fire and Ice series], which I absolutely loved! Even if I DID want to throw my kindle out of a window and cuss at it. XD I've not had my feels that stirred up in a LONG time, haha. I'm planning on continuing the series once the new Lorien books comes out. ^^' Not sure which is my all-time favorite book, sooo. I hope this still counts!

The Mark Of The Lion series by Francine Rivers
Its a lovely historical fiction thats set back in the time of the gladiators. It stays pretty clean and true to the times while mixing in romance and lots of action (adventure, fights). Its for sure a series that will keep you enthralled and reading and even on the edge of your seat at several points. They are larger books but I can manage all 3 in less than a month (not sure how fast you read) and they are so good ive reread the series and would eagerly do so again.

Favorite book for sure is House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewksi . Honestly, you have to read it at some point in your life, whether it be now or when you're in your 60s. It really messes with your head, and you follow two stories in a way, one is the guy who's "rewritten" all this book by a very strange elder man who lives in his apartment building, But soon you find that it was a horrible idea for him to try and finish the old man's report, whatever you wanna call it. The main "story" (which is the report itself) is absolutely amazing, and confusing, and it gives you reference numbers (along with the info to the book/article/etc that it's from or you can find more info of it in) at the bottom of each page. In order of course. But the part that really got on my nerves was the fact that they're all made up, while it's a complete work of fiction...you honestly will lose yourself in it /fast/. Then you'll never want to stop until you reach the end, and even then you'll wanna go back through again! (I am now, actually. The book and concepts within the book itself dwells on your mind long after you finish it.)
Pleeeeeeeease read it!

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green is one of the greatest books of all time. You're hooked pretty much by the first page (I know I was!) The brutally honest and rather sarcastic comedy is absolutely brilliant, and brings a far greater realism to the topic of the novel than other similarly genred books and it's just plain stunning the entire way through <33

Ummm well i guess my favorite story would be The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe. https://poestories.com/read/telltaleheart
i loved all of his stories really because he made even the creepist of stories poetic, but Tell-Tale Heart was my favorite because of its description and details it used and how a mad man probably felt.

My current favorite is The Mercy Thompson series - especially the first book, Moon called - by Patricia Brigs. The main character is female and she's able to kick butt all on her own! It's about werewolves, and vampires and ghosts a bit too. All the characters are really well developed and it's a nonstop action read :D

I really enjoy the Edge Chronicles by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddle. It's technically for kids, but has some amazing allegory and wonderful world building. It's also a little dark at times. The first in the series is probably the most poetic, but the later books have an even better story. There are several story arches in the series, each following a different boy in the same family line. Sky pirates and monsters and politics and hope and failure, I very much recommend. x3

On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft just recently rocketed onto my absolute favorites list. Maybe it's just because I'm a writer, but Stephen King is absolutely brilliant with this novel, in terms of entertainment and advice for writing. It's an amazing read!

Okay. Now that I'm on my computer.. Anything by LK Hamilton. She just has a wicked sense of humor though definitely not for kids. Same with Patricia Briggs. Not for the faint of heart but an awesome read. Kim Harrison's Hollow series is another good one and one teens might enjoy as is the Dresden Files. Piers Anthony anything though some think he's a bit of a dry read. The Xanth series is his most popular and a good laugh. Sherrilyn Kenyon is another goodie but again, not so much for the kiddos. There's also Joanne Bertin though her books are hard to find unless you special order them. Sad really. Then there's Melanie Rawn's dragon series. Andre Norton, Anne McCaffery and her son, Mercedes Lackey, Steven Brust.. You know, it'd really be easier to list what ones I -don't- like..
