Yoo hoo! *waves hanky* It's me again with another special delivery!
Did you know that today is Book Lover's Day? No? Well, neither did I until Shaylmesse (#13314) brought it to my attention-- and I'm blushing to have to admit my ignorance, because there are few greater pleasures than curling up with a good book! If you're like me and would just love to have your own little personal library, why don't you try Shaylmesse's gift on for size?
The Book Lover's Background is available in the Advent Calendar for the duration of today and tomorrow, up until August 10th, 11:59pm.
Ooh, but wait! There's more!
Tell me your favourite book (and why!) in the comments and you could be in with a chance of winning this set of custom crystals! I'm in need of some good new holiday reads and I'm sure I can't be the only one. :3 Chime in by August 10th, 11:59pm to ensure your spot in the draw (one entry per account, please).
Ooh, but wait! There's even more!!!
Do you remember I mentioned earlier in the week that I was having a tidy of my inbox? The invitation (and encouragement!) to nudge your outstanding Artist Pay is still open, but today I am asking you to bump up PMs pertaining to Lunarii switches. That means if you picked up the wrong Lunaris for the month and you're still waiting on me to swap 'em around for you, point yourself to my inbox sharpish!
Phew! Okay! That's everything - probably! Who knows! Yay! Exclamation marks!
Thank you for the background, Shaylmesse!
Just smell those new pages!

More for younger ages )13-17) but I always enjoy grabbing "So you want to be a wizard" of the young wizard series or just about anything in the tortall world(wild mage, terrier, etc etc) by tamora pierce. i like 'wizard' Because the series makes you believe you could find a wizard's book yourself, it's that believable. I like the tortall world because tamora describes everything just perfectly enough you can see things as they're happening but she doesn't over describe.

My favorite is His Majesty's Dragon, by Naomi Novik. The series is about the Napoleonic wars, but with dragons. And it's the greatest thing I have ever read. The series goes into some interesting depth about basically everything, the first one is about a navy captain who ends up being transferred to the aerial corps, and his/his dragon's take on the corps and treatment of dragons, and the other books explore other continents, cultures and their approaches to sharing space with giant carnivorous flying monsters etc.

I would have to say that my favorite book is 'Red Wall' since it was the first novel that I had ever read. I wasn't much of a reader when I was younger, mostly because what we were made to read bored me, but my relatives were able to find books that interest me, so in less than a year I went from picture books to novels, and that was a book that belonged to my dad because I had read all my other books. I've read almost all of Brian Jacques' 'Red Wall' series, only missing a couple before he died. I also plan on getting all the books in the future when I get my own place.

My favorite isn't A book but multiple books.I would have to say that one book series that I love and always will be is the Eragon series. It's a little slow in the first book but it's packed full of adventure. Dragons and what-not. The movie put the book in so much shame because of how horrible it was compared to the book. People who haven't read the series but love the movie make me want to make them read the book. The movie literately made me sick to my stomach. The series is magnificent, and hardly any mushy gushy love crap and no marry/gary sues *glaresatTwilight*. It has so much detail and paints such a vivid picture in your head that sometimes it seems like you really are there, and multiple times I had to tear my head away from the book and found that I was indeed not in world of the book. I wish we were able to give more book ideas, as I have a ton!

Others have probably already mentioned these, but Laurell K. Hamilton is amazing. Her Anita Blake series is just awesome, and her Merry Gentry series is quite good as well. They are definitely what would be classed as Dark Fiction and do contain some *very* adult themes, so they are not for the timid or feint of heart - good reads, but meant for an adult reader, for sure. The Undead series by Mary Janice Davidson is another favorite series of mine. Definitely cheeky to the point of nearly being chick lit, it details the shenanigans of an accidental vampire, Betsy Taylor. More adult themes here but also some seriously good belly laughs, this series will keep you entertained from start to finish. If you're looking for something more classic (and less adult), the Apprentice Adept series by Piers Anthony has always been close to my heart. Lord, that man can write! This story gives Lord of the Rings a run for its money for depth, character development, and sheer timelessness. Truly classic. If you still haven't found quite what you're look for - or get through the list and are looking for more - please feel free to message me at any time with the basic type of story you would enjoy, and I will happily throw some suggestions at you. This is, after all, a pathetically small list. I am a professed bookworm, and my tastes run the gamut from Animal Farm to 50 Shades of Grey, from The Bell Jar to An American Werewolf in London. Just give me an idea of what you do (and do not) like, and I shall do my best to suggest a couple of snuggle-worthy reads for you. =)

There is no way I could ever just pick one book! I mean the last time I moved I had 3 times as many boxes of books then boxes of anything else! I've seen a few of my favorites already posted, Anne McCaffrey's 'The Dragonriders of Pern series, Watership Down, Clive Cussler, Game of Thrones, and The Cat Who series. Here are some of my other favorite series:
The Gandalara Cycle by Randall Garrett and Vicki Ann Heydron. This is an amazing series! It starts out with this normal guy waking up in someone else's body on seemingly an alien planet. I can't say much more with out ruining the surprise :)
If you like Watership Down I'd love to recommend Tailchaser's Song by Tad Williams. Also his Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn series is a great read. If you all like GoT give this one a try!
Robin Hobb has 3 amazing trilogies! The Farseer Trilogy and it's sequel the Tawny Man Trilogy are awesome! The Liveship Traders is another of hers that is well worth reading.
But you asked for or favorite so if I had to pick just one I would say Watchers by Dean Koontz...... Or maybe Lightning. Or Strangers. See I told you Icouldn't pick just one!

My fave book/trilogy would have to be the Shiver trilogy by Erin Stiefvater. I am OBSESSED with wolves and the books are about this girl who had a pack of wolves in her backyard, but during the summer and spring they would turn into humans. It's a romance and it is very VERY good. I recommend that ALL of you should read it. Although the series Uglies is also good. I have only read the first one and started the second one at the moment, I have been busy with reading books for school but I can't wait to get the rest of the series of the Uglies. Read that too people. ^.^
