Yoo hoo! *waves hanky* It's me again with another special delivery!
Did you know that today is Book Lover's Day? No? Well, neither did I until Shaylmesse (#13314) brought it to my attention-- and I'm blushing to have to admit my ignorance, because there are few greater pleasures than curling up with a good book! If you're like me and would just love to have your own little personal library, why don't you try Shaylmesse's gift on for size?
The Book Lover's Background is available in the Advent Calendar for the duration of today and tomorrow, up until August 10th, 11:59pm.
Ooh, but wait! There's more!
Tell me your favourite book (and why!) in the comments and you could be in with a chance of winning this set of custom crystals! I'm in need of some good new holiday reads and I'm sure I can't be the only one. :3 Chime in by August 10th, 11:59pm to ensure your spot in the draw (one entry per account, please).
Ooh, but wait! There's even more!!!
Do you remember I mentioned earlier in the week that I was having a tidy of my inbox? The invitation (and encouragement!) to nudge your outstanding Artist Pay is still open, but today I am asking you to bump up PMs pertaining to Lunarii switches. That means if you picked up the wrong Lunaris for the month and you're still waiting on me to swap 'em around for you, point yourself to my inbox sharpish!
Phew! Okay! That's everything - probably! Who knows! Yay! Exclamation marks!
Thank you for the background, Shaylmesse!
Just smell those new pages!

Oh, gosh, I'm gonna go with Good Omens, by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. It's an end-of-the-world book with angels that aren't exactly good, demons that aren't exactly evil, an antichrist that doesn't know he's the antichrist, extremely talkative satanic nuns, and a hellhound named Dog. It's really a fabulous book! Witty, original, and a might bit strange~

Are you asking me to just tell you about one ? I don't think this is possible ...so I just have to tell you about several ! I personally loved the Owls of Ga'hool series because I just couldn't stop reading it ,all of the interesting events and little bit of drama thrown in there was very nice and sometimes I was nearly acting like my dad at a football game . If you are looking for a more romance ,paranormal ,and some action thrown along with it I suggest the Tiger's curse ( read the whole series!!!!) and I wanted to share this one with you since I really liked the story line and how well the story blends with Indian myth and the little humor points here and there .Another book I had liked was Infinity from the chronicles of Nick .It was very nice and refreshing to see more of a action tale than a love story so maybe it would be fun for you guys to read other than just romance books that keep coming out .If you want a romance and drama filled book that is heavily filled with weird events and paranormal teens then I suggest reading Born at Midnight and continue with the rest of the series and I loved this series since it tackled the divorced parents issue in a new way along with fighting best friends ,being the odd kid ,and going to the one place you didn't want to go. Another book ( another ? YES ANOTHER) was the percy jackson series and if you just saw the movie you are really ,really missing out on a lot and it is just lovely on how well the myth is blended well with modern culture and how they had drama but action as well more balanced than other books that I have read . My positively #1 book is Maximum Ride ,it has the most scientific element in the book than I have read before and it just grippes my attention but allows me like one place to exit so I can go to bed at 6 am in the morning XD . My last book Im going to tell you guys about is the mortal instruments as it is also a very good series to read as well even though it is starting to get a bit weird in the last few books ,but oh well .I hope you do read these books guys I'm not just posting so I could win the crystal set .

I would recommend The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, by Mark Haddon. It is a really interesting book told from the perspective of a boy who is mentally handicapped. He goes on a quest to investigate the death of a neighborhood dog. :3

The Immortals series, by Tamora Pierce. Wild Magic, to be more specific. The series follows the story of the young mage Veralidaine, or just Daine, as she discovers her magic, discovers her lineage, and falls in love. It is my favorite, though Harry Potter is a close second. X3

My favorite book is the Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury. This book is written in such a way that the intro story leads into many, many smaller stories depicting different futuristic situations, one of my favorites being a virtual reality room for children that becomes their real world. In the book the stories are told by a man looking at the illustrated man's tattoos while he slept, each tattoo playing out a story for him all through the night until the man is able to see his own future played out on the illustrated man's skin. It is truly a work of art. :)

I have so many favourite books, it's hard to narrow it down to one, so why not three! My top three favourite books would have to be To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Genesis of the Daleks by Terrance Dicks. The first two I had to read for class, but they kinda latched onto me and I've probably read them about five or six times each XD! Mockingbird really emphasised the problems of racial discrimination that we still face today, and Gatsby, while it had a slow start, really perked my interest after the fifth chapter. As for Genesis of the Daleks, it's my absolute favourite Fourth Doctor story. It's that kind of book/serial that makes you realise that the Doctor has very serious moments, particularly concerning the creation of the Daleks. He cannot destroy an entire sentient species, whether he likes it or not, because he feels he does have that right and that "I'd be no better than the Daleks." Sorry for the long post, I love reading XD
