Yoo hoo! *waves hanky* It's me again with another special delivery!
Did you know that today is Book Lover's Day? No? Well, neither did I until Shaylmesse (#13314) brought it to my attention-- and I'm blushing to have to admit my ignorance, because there are few greater pleasures than curling up with a good book! If you're like me and would just love to have your own little personal library, why don't you try Shaylmesse's gift on for size?
The Book Lover's Background is available in the Advent Calendar for the duration of today and tomorrow, up until August 10th, 11:59pm.
Ooh, but wait! There's more!
Tell me your favourite book (and why!) in the comments and you could be in with a chance of winning this set of custom crystals! I'm in need of some good new holiday reads and I'm sure I can't be the only one. :3 Chime in by August 10th, 11:59pm to ensure your spot in the draw (one entry per account, please).
Ooh, but wait! There's even more!!!
Do you remember I mentioned earlier in the week that I was having a tidy of my inbox? The invitation (and encouragement!) to nudge your outstanding Artist Pay is still open, but today I am asking you to bump up PMs pertaining to Lunarii switches. That means if you picked up the wrong Lunaris for the month and you're still waiting on me to swap 'em around for you, point yourself to my inbox sharpish!
Phew! Okay! That's everything - probably! Who knows! Yay! Exclamation marks!
Thank you for the background, Shaylmesse!
Just smell those new pages!

I would say if you're a fan of the Dresden Files and haven't done it already, read Furies of Calderon by Jim Butcher (and the other five books in the Codex Alera series, but since you say suggest one book I suggest the first. :)

My favorite book is a rather obscure one called The Third Magic written by Welwyn Wilton Katz, a Canadian author. It's a rather unique take of Arthurian legend, with a very interesting magic system. It's also a coming of age story, which follows a descendant of Morgan Le Fay, and a boy called Ardue, and their adventure.

Awesome. XDD Oh gosh, I couldn't even begin to pick a favorite lol. Though I will admit that the Sherlock Holmes series by ACD is one of my faves. Mysteries are a lot of fun and I just adore Sherlock and John Watson lol. One of my favorite authors is Tamora Pierce. She writes fantasy with strong female characters. The Song of the Lioness, the Immortals, the Circle of Magic, and the Legend of Beka Cooper series are just wonderful. n_n

The Dark Tower kicks off an epic series by Stephen King. It's not your usual Stephen King. Instead, imagine Lord of the Rings, with Arthurian legend, a cowboy, science fiction, inter-dimentional monsters, time travel, a wizard, with a love story, epic battles of good versus evil and much rooting for the underdogs.

The Immortals series, by Tamora Pierce. Wild Magic, to be more specific. The series follows the story of the young mage Veralidaine, or just Daine, as she discovers her magic, discovers her lineage, and falls in love. It is my favorite, though Harry Potter is a close second. X3

Dragonsdawn by Anne McCaffery, it's a prequel to every series set on the world of Pern and explains how humans came to be on Pern, how they genetically engineered dragons (so it is science fiction, but with dragons ^_^), and it also describes the difficulties they had starting their colonies on a planet that was plagued every 250 years with a parasitic organism, that ate everything in site, raining from the sky.

I'm a huge fan of the books in the Tortall universe by Tamora Pierce *o* My favorite series in there "The Immortals" quartet, and my favorite book of the three is the second one, "Wolf-Speaker." It's a book about a girl who's unknowingly a half-goddess, and can change into animals. In that particular book she discovers that ability. It's really cool, I love them :)
