Yoo hoo! *waves hanky* It's me again with another special delivery!

Did you know that today is Book Lover's Day? No? Well, neither did I until Shaylmesse (#13314) brought it to my attention-- and I'm blushing to have to admit my ignorance, because there are few greater pleasures than curling up with a good book! If you're like me and would just love to have your own little personal library, why don't you try Shaylmesse's gift on for size?

The Book Lover's Background is available in the Advent Calendar for the duration of today and tomorrow, up until August 10th, 11:59pm.

Ooh, but wait! There's more!

Tell me your favourite book (and why!) in the comments and you could be in with a chance of winning this set of custom crystals! I'm in need of some good new holiday reads and I'm sure I can't be the only one. :3 Chime in by August 10th, 11:59pm to ensure your spot in the draw (one entry per account, please).

Ooh, but wait! There's even more!!!

Do you remember I mentioned earlier in the week that I was having a tidy of my inbox? The invitation (and encouragement!) to nudge your outstanding Artist Pay is still open, but today I am asking you to bump up PMs pertaining to Lunarii switches. That means if you picked up the wrong Lunaris for the month and you're still waiting on me to swap 'em around for you, point yourself to my inbox sharpish!

Phew! Okay! That's everything - probably! Who knows! Yay! Exclamation marks!

Thank you for the background, Shaylmesse!

Just smell those new pages!

His Majesty's Dragon, by Naomi Novik, first in the Temeraire series. It is an alternate history set of books that takes place in Britain (the first book does anyway) during the napoleonic wars. The alternate history you may ask? Dragons. Every nation now has their own aerial force of dragons. It is marvelously well written and explores changes that a small (okay, big. Really big.) difference makes in history while following a serving officer in the aerial corps. I re-read these books every few months.

Harry Potter series. I hope that counts. ^-^; The series helped me though some seriously bad times with my depression, and made me feel more human than anything else we tried. To this day, I have the entire series, and two tattoos because it's "always" with me.

The Sight & Fell by David Clement Davies. I love wolves, and fantasy, these two mix them both in a great way. It's written from the perspective of the wolves too which is just amazing! Truly beautiful books, and two of my favourites <3

Garth Nix's "Abhorsen Trilogy" is fantastic, and there's a prequel coming out soon.
Green Riders Series by Kristen is also great, and anything by Tamora Pierce is an awesome read too. Although I found her Terrier series really hard to read due to the dialogue; but its like... old, old english style so that's forgivable.

The Tomorrow Code is a rather good book about a code that they have to crack, or tomorrow is history.

Tane and Rebecca arent sure what to make of it. A sequence of 1s and 0s, the message looks like nothing more than a random collection of alternating binary codes. As they work to decode it, and the ones that follow, it slowly it becomes clearthe messages are being sent back in time from Tane and Rebeccas future! Something there has gone horribly wrong, and its up to them to prevent it from happening.

Tane and Rebecca follow the messages cryptic instructions, but its not long before they begin to suspect that worstthat the very survival of the human race may be at stake.. After a long book of twists and unforeseen turns, the book ends in a way you would never expect.

The Tomorrow Code is a book aimed for all areas of reading experience, and has won many awards including arriving in the top 10 for "New Zealand's Best Read Book Rewards."

This book is a must-read!

My favorite book is The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman. This book is my favorite because I learned there about the concept of daemons, our conscience minds projected into an animal familiar symbolic and unique to each person. This book changed how I looked at spirituality, totems and my place in the world. As a very lonely and depressed middle schooler it gave me a wondrous world to escape to, one that filled me with the strength and courage I needed to get through some of the hardest emotions I ever had to cope with. To this day I can't help but feel as though I've returned home every time I browse through its pages. The whole His Dark Materials trilogy really is precious to me, and always will be.

Incarceron by Catherine Fisher~
Its a reeeally good book about a young boy stuck in a strange prison called Incarceron. I can't explain anything without giving things away, though! There's also a sequel, but I personally don't think its as good.

The Guardians of Ga'Hoole. It's made for children but it's full of adventure, mystery, myth, and owls. Tons and tons of owls. Seriously, I think I coughed up feathers when I got done reading it. I totally recommend this one if you haven't read it. It has a small series of sequel books as well so if you enjoy the first one, you can keep reading!
