Yoo hoo! *waves hanky* It's me again with another special delivery!
Did you know that today is Book Lover's Day? No? Well, neither did I until Shaylmesse (#13314) brought it to my attention-- and I'm blushing to have to admit my ignorance, because there are few greater pleasures than curling up with a good book! If you're like me and would just love to have your own little personal library, why don't you try Shaylmesse's gift on for size?
The Book Lover's Background is available in the Advent Calendar for the duration of today and tomorrow, up until August 10th, 11:59pm.
Ooh, but wait! There's more!
Tell me your favourite book (and why!) in the comments and you could be in with a chance of winning this set of custom crystals! I'm in need of some good new holiday reads and I'm sure I can't be the only one. :3 Chime in by August 10th, 11:59pm to ensure your spot in the draw (one entry per account, please).
Ooh, but wait! There's even more!!!
Do you remember I mentioned earlier in the week that I was having a tidy of my inbox? The invitation (and encouragement!) to nudge your outstanding Artist Pay is still open, but today I am asking you to bump up PMs pertaining to Lunarii switches. That means if you picked up the wrong Lunaris for the month and you're still waiting on me to swap 'em around for you, point yourself to my inbox sharpish!
Phew! Okay! That's everything - probably! Who knows! Yay! Exclamation marks!
Thank you for the background, Shaylmesse!
Just smell those new pages!

Piratika is one extraordinary book, and even a series of book. There should be three of them around, as far as I know, though I have only read the first two, since the last one hasn't been translated to Swedish as of yet, and I would simply hate having to switch language. But the first book in perticular is the important one, which took me on an amazing journey like none other.

For an adult type book, try: we need to talk about Kevin - it's really good and makes you wonder if you can believe it because it's from a biased viewpoint, but it is really interesting.
For younger: The Inheritance cycle - I'm reading the last one at the moment and it's really fun, about dragon riders and a war etc.

The Will of the Empress by Tamora Piece. :) It's the last book in an amazing series, and really showcases the growth and development of the characters I came to love in the earlier books. It also has a great plot, and the interpersonal dynamics of the characters are written just perfectly. It's pretty much my favorite book ever.

Ohhh also I recommend finding out if any of your favorite movies were based on books. If you see a movie of a book you've read it'll always be terrible no matter what, but I find that if you see the "shitty" adaptation first, it's a lot easier to appreciate because you don't have anything to compare it to; then, once you've experienced the 'better' version, seeing the bad one still won't seem as bad because you remember it neutral/well without it being colored by how it's SUPPOSED to be, and can appreciate the changes made/etc. Another thing is go see if there's any books of, say, games you like. I know there's like 20 or something for World of Warcraft which I'm in the middle of reading, and probably at least one or two for most other very-popular plotty videogames out there.

I have to suggest 'To the Ends of the Earth', by William Golding. It's historical fiction, set in the early 1800's, on a ship travelling from England to Australia. I'm not usually fond of 1st person pieces, but this is written in journal format, and paced wonderfully. It's my favourite because of the character interplay and politics, though, and the way in which it's filtered through the main characters perceptions of the world. :)

Oh, another thing. Idk what games you're interested in/play/etc, but I find that knowing/understanding the story behind games makes the game itself more enjoyable. For instance, I'm in between books at the moment of World of Warcraft lore, and since I've started doing such I've now gone to the places/people mentioned in those books in-game and I could say "
