Yoo hoo! *waves hanky* It's me again with another special delivery!

Did you know that today is Book Lover's Day? No? Well, neither did I until Shaylmesse (#13314) brought it to my attention-- and I'm blushing to have to admit my ignorance, because there are few greater pleasures than curling up with a good book! If you're like me and would just love to have your own little personal library, why don't you try Shaylmesse's gift on for size?

The Book Lover's Background is available in the Advent Calendar for the duration of today and tomorrow, up until August 10th, 11:59pm.

Ooh, but wait! There's more!

Tell me your favourite book (and why!) in the comments and you could be in with a chance of winning this set of custom crystals! I'm in need of some good new holiday reads and I'm sure I can't be the only one. :3 Chime in by August 10th, 11:59pm to ensure your spot in the draw (one entry per account, please).

Ooh, but wait! There's even more!!!

Do you remember I mentioned earlier in the week that I was having a tidy of my inbox? The invitation (and encouragement!) to nudge your outstanding Artist Pay is still open, but today I am asking you to bump up PMs pertaining to Lunarii switches. That means if you picked up the wrong Lunaris for the month and you're still waiting on me to swap 'em around for you, point yourself to my inbox sharpish!

Phew! Okay! That's everything - probably! Who knows! Yay! Exclamation marks!

Thank you for the background, Shaylmesse!

Just smell those new pages!

I don't really have a favourite book, but I enjoyed reading Walter Moers's books, especially The 13½ Lives of Captain Bluebear. I liked it because it is SO weird. It is about bizarre creatures, a crazy trip trough a wide land, odd characters.. Fantastic. It's one of those books you simply can't put down, and Moers has a very peculiar way to write, which makes everything really worth reading. This book leads you into moments full of madness, and it feels amazing. Anybody who likes weird stuff should read it, it's brilliant!

Any of Claire Bells books are awesome (One of which is Ratha's Creature but all of them are hard to find) as is the Nightrunner series by Lynn Flewelling.

It's hard to choose, but my favorite book is probably Emma, by Jane Austen. It's a very good book, with well-developed characters and an interesting plot. The abundance of humor and satire in this book provides a nice contrast to the Georgian language and grammar, making it acessible to people today. The main character, Emma, is also very relatable, with her idealism, tendency to be rude without meaning to, and, at times, obliviousness.
All in all, even though this book is one of Austen's lesser-known masterpieces, I still consider it to be her greatest--and my favorite book.

My favorite book is Tomorrow's Sphinx. It's the one book I can read over and over and over again. It's about a Cheetah, and Cheetah's are my favorite animal, so...Plus, when i was younger, i was really in to egyptian stuff, and this book heavily ties in to that. -Tolsi

I have a lot of books that I enjoy, but one of my absolute favorite books (trilogy of books, really) is Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder. It's a YA fantasy book that's about a young woman that's in prison for murder. She's the next one up for execution when the Commander's food taster dies, so she's offered the choice of becoming the next food taster or hanging. She chooses the first option, and then...well, it's really good! And I love the characters :) Maria V. Snyder became one of my favorite authors ever because of this book!

Feed by Mira Grant. Well, the whole Newsflesh Trilogy to be honest.

I have so many favorites.... So I'll just pick one.... "The Child Thief" by Brom. It's a darker spin on the classic tale, "Peter Pan". It's a very well written story, and it's got some illustrations of the story in it that are absolutely breathtaking! Brom is both an amazing artist and an amazing writer. All his stuff is great!

One of my (many) favorite books is actually a collection of short stories, Night Shift by Stephen King. He has an incredible way of crafting horror through human emotion--that's what I like about all of his books. They focus on the humanity, not the monstrosity. Night Shift has a bunch of classics, including "Children of the Corn" and "'Salem's Lot," not to mention the heart-pounding "The Mangler." I like this collection so much, I bought it in French to help me practice!
