Yoo hoo! *waves hanky* It's me again with another special delivery!

Did you know that today is Book Lover's Day? No? Well, neither did I until Shaylmesse (#13314) brought it to my attention-- and I'm blushing to have to admit my ignorance, because there are few greater pleasures than curling up with a good book! If you're like me and would just love to have your own little personal library, why don't you try Shaylmesse's gift on for size?

The Book Lover's Background is available in the Advent Calendar for the duration of today and tomorrow, up until August 10th, 11:59pm.

Ooh, but wait! There's more!

Tell me your favourite book (and why!) in the comments and you could be in with a chance of winning this set of custom crystals! I'm in need of some good new holiday reads and I'm sure I can't be the only one. :3 Chime in by August 10th, 11:59pm to ensure your spot in the draw (one entry per account, please).

Ooh, but wait! There's even more!!!

Do you remember I mentioned earlier in the week that I was having a tidy of my inbox? The invitation (and encouragement!) to nudge your outstanding Artist Pay is still open, but today I am asking you to bump up PMs pertaining to Lunarii switches. That means if you picked up the wrong Lunaris for the month and you're still waiting on me to swap 'em around for you, point yourself to my inbox sharpish!

Phew! Okay! That's everything - probably! Who knows! Yay! Exclamation marks!

Thank you for the background, Shaylmesse!

Just smell those new pages!

My current favorite books are the Song of Ice and Fire series, since I got hooked watching Game of Thrones and wanted to read the story it came from. Good writing, lots of storylines and characters to like (or hate). :3

The Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K. Hamilton.

Why is it my favorite? WHOLE new twist on vampires, demons, weres, everything. Its full of plot twists and adventure and horror but I warn you!! Its full of highly explicit sex scenes as well :/

How can I choose just ONE? D: Awrr.
I liked "The Thin Executioner" by Darren Shan.
I first started reading his stuff because someone messaged me with, "Hey, there's a writer who has your birth day, but like 20 years earlier!" I like things that involve, y'know, rough lessons and action and... death... :x But there's character development, and that's what got me.
In the story there's violence, slavery, murder, graverobbing... lots of things that make you glad we don't live in that world. Without spoiling it, Jebel Rum goes on a journey to sacrifice a slave to a fire god in order to gain power and immortality so he can become the next Executioner. The society's brutal - the story starts with Jebel's dad executing someone and kids playing with the decapitated head - so uh, yeah, if you don't like violence and such.... not a book for you. It was interesting, though, because of how the cultures were decided and presented...
(I'm gonna look through the comments now... I neeeed new books to read.)

"Nicholas St. North and the Battle of the Nightmare King" - written by both William Joyce and Laura Geringer.

If anyone doesn't know, that's the first Novel behind the Rise of the Guardians series, not quite in direct connection to the movies. I love the way in which they take childhood figures and make them...for a lack of words, badass. Typically I don't like those sorts of stories (looking at you, Lincoln Vampire Hunter and RDJ as Sherlock), but this is less about sex appeal and gore. I just find the Russian Santa to be intriguing and love the way they make him grow as a character. He's not quite believable in background or ability but his emotional journey is. I suppose it's also me being a kid at heart and seeing the wonder he tends to see. I can't wait to see what the latest book in the series will show me but that first one is near and dear to me.

"Let The Right One In" by John Ajvide Lindqvist. I cried. A lot. Also probably the complete Chronicles of Narnia (the big book with all the chronicles) or the Spiderwick Chronicles (once again, the full book). Those two series are fantastic!

Lately my favourite book (series!) is Warriors, because it was something I loved as a child and now as a (relative) adult I have a soft spot for nostalgic things. I like a lot of the same things I did when I was a kid; they always bring back good feelings and memories. So I reread this series recently and found that I liked it just as much as I did when I was a kid!

I think by far my favorite book, or more accurately, book series, still has to be The Animorphs by K. A. Applegate. It's the first book series I ever truly got into as a child (in 4th grade actually) that also got me hooked on reading for the rest of my life. It's about a group of teenagers who encountered a dying alien who gave them a strange and truly amazing gift. The ability to transform into any animal they can touch :) Being an animal lover myself I instantly gravitated to this series and followed it to its very end (54 books later, not including the mini-series that go alongside it). So, if you're down for a long, enjoyable read, hit this series up. It's worth it.

The Host by Stephanie Meyer. (So happy they made a movie, but the book was soooo much better.) It's a bit of a long read, but I've read it about 3 times now. Once you get past the first few confusing chapters, and the first slow chunk of the book, you just get sucked into the tangled messy life of Mel and Wanda being stuck together in one body, and having a boy who loves Mel, the body, and a boy who loves Wanda, the mind. Once the action picked up I couldn't put it down.

"Souless" By Gail Carriger, and of course the followup books "Changeless", "Blameless", "Heartless" and "Timeless" (AKA The Parasol Protectorate). A fun read with Vampires, Werewolves and Steampunk. She has a new book out in a new series in the same world "Etiquette and Espionage" for young adults and adults young at heart.

My favourite book is 'The Pledge' by Kimberly Derting because its got a great concept of languages stating your status in society as well as a classic love story behind it. I almost began to fall in love with all the characters and it's got such an exciting plot line, I can't stop reading it ahhaha
