Yoo hoo! *waves hanky* It's me again with another special delivery!
Did you know that today is Book Lover's Day? No? Well, neither did I until Shaylmesse (#13314) brought it to my attention-- and I'm blushing to have to admit my ignorance, because there are few greater pleasures than curling up with a good book! If you're like me and would just love to have your own little personal library, why don't you try Shaylmesse's gift on for size?
The Book Lover's Background is available in the Advent Calendar for the duration of today and tomorrow, up until August 10th, 11:59pm.
Ooh, but wait! There's more!
Tell me your favourite book (and why!) in the comments and you could be in with a chance of winning this set of custom crystals! I'm in need of some good new holiday reads and I'm sure I can't be the only one. :3 Chime in by August 10th, 11:59pm to ensure your spot in the draw (one entry per account, please).
Ooh, but wait! There's even more!!!
Do you remember I mentioned earlier in the week that I was having a tidy of my inbox? The invitation (and encouragement!) to nudge your outstanding Artist Pay is still open, but today I am asking you to bump up PMs pertaining to Lunarii switches. That means if you picked up the wrong Lunaris for the month and you're still waiting on me to swap 'em around for you, point yourself to my inbox sharpish!
Phew! Okay! That's everything - probably! Who knows! Yay! Exclamation marks!
Thank you for the background, Shaylmesse!
Just smell those new pages!

My favorite book currently is Prophecy of the Sisters. It is the story of twin girls who have very different destinies as they fulfill their roles in the prophecy. It is a dark and sinister book and so enthralling! It gave me goosebumps and chills, but I couldn't put it down! It's also a trilogy so there are 2 more books after to enjoy :)

Any of the Honor Harrington books by David Weber. I suppose my favorite is probably Flag in Exile but it's really hard to choose. I like the series because it's military sci fi that recapitulates the french revolution (in space!) and is very equalist, a quality sadly missing from much science fiction.

My favourite book is "Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World" by Haruki Murakami. His writing is superb and I just love the overall Kafkaesque feel of the story.

Oh geesh, favorite book is rather difficult. So I'll just do a recommendation. If you can find it, "The Hound and the Falcon" by Judith Tarr is really good. It's a long one, and it does have sexy moments in it. (Female elf is a bit sexual and the main character (an elf) is pretty handsome so he gets hit on a lot, including by King Author.) Still, it's a good one. Realistic fiction, kinda sorta. I devoured it. Technically it's a trilogy but I consider it one since I have a combined copy of it. The Wheel of Time series. It's just... absolutely magnificent. An in-depth story, good character development, and while it's a bit of a slow start, it eventually sucks you in and I find myself unable to stop reading. I love it.

I like Retribution my Jilliane Hoffmann - it's a Thriller, a really good thriller.
It's a really good book, I read it in two days, because it was so hard to put down. The story line is fine and the style of the author also.

I always gotta recommend the Dresden Files. It's basically like private-eye supernatural cop drama--the original working title for the series was Semiautomagic, which paints a pretty great picture of what the books are all about. I originally read them out of order because I couldn't find all of the books in stores, but was incapable of not devouring the next one, out of sequence or not! They've also got plenty or re-reading potential, which is always a selling point for me. Being able to enjoy a book even more the second time around is a sign of good quality.
Also, I don't know how strict your definition of 'book' is, but I usually include really excellent graphic novels in the same category. Saga is a new series that is utterly fantastic (think cosmic space opera assassin magical love story) and definitely worth a shot if you're into comics. Blankets is also good; it's an absolutely GIGANTIC comic memoir, very well done.

My favorite book is The Sight, becuase it and Fell, the second book, helped me through tough times. The book has things that are true and you could live by. know that without night there is no day; without lies, no truth;without despair,no hope. Beware above all of hate, but call to its opposite too. For all things have an opposite and, if you choose it, with will and care, you may turn one thing into its reflection. The author is David Clement Davies. Its about wolves.

This is really a cliche answer but, my favorite book is "1984" by George Orwell. I first read it in 8th grade, and I loved it then, although I didn't really understand it until when I re-read it again last year. I love all the details that go into the world, like you really understand how different it is from normal society, and at some points I would stop and think about how a place like that actually really could work. Plus, I think Winston is one of the best "everyman" protagonists I've ever read.

stardust of yesterday by lynn kirkland. it's a romance novel but it's amazing only because not only does it involve history, romanace and suspence, but there's a ghostly presence that you totally don't see coming!
