Yoo hoo! *waves hanky* It's me again with another special delivery!

Did you know that today is Book Lover's Day? No? Well, neither did I until Shaylmesse (#13314) brought it to my attention-- and I'm blushing to have to admit my ignorance, because there are few greater pleasures than curling up with a good book! If you're like me and would just love to have your own little personal library, why don't you try Shaylmesse's gift on for size?

The Book Lover's Background is available in the Advent Calendar for the duration of today and tomorrow, up until August 10th, 11:59pm.

Ooh, but wait! There's more!

Tell me your favourite book (and why!) in the comments and you could be in with a chance of winning this set of custom crystals! I'm in need of some good new holiday reads and I'm sure I can't be the only one. :3 Chime in by August 10th, 11:59pm to ensure your spot in the draw (one entry per account, please).

Ooh, but wait! There's even more!!!

Do you remember I mentioned earlier in the week that I was having a tidy of my inbox? The invitation (and encouragement!) to nudge your outstanding Artist Pay is still open, but today I am asking you to bump up PMs pertaining to Lunarii switches. That means if you picked up the wrong Lunaris for the month and you're still waiting on me to swap 'em around for you, point yourself to my inbox sharpish!

Phew! Okay! That's everything - probably! Who knows! Yay! Exclamation marks!

Thank you for the background, Shaylmesse!

Just smell those new pages!

My favourite book? You're seriously killing me by asking to pick just one. I read so many different genres ... so I could list so many books! I have seen someone already mentioned Childen of the Earth series, those are really amazing (and I am currently reading them for the umpteenth time right now XD). I also love Artemis Fowl series (and own all of the books) and The wish list, both by Eoin Colfer. Then, for a (completely) different genre I'd recommend Timeline and Airframe, by Michael Crichton - they are also science fiction, though with more emphasis on SCIENCE. Perhaps you have seen the movie based on the Timeline - it's a great movie, but the book is a million times better!
I'm pretty sure you have heard of those, but I really like House of Night and Vampire Academy series too XD Okay, they are another takeon on vampire stories, but they both have some new, pretty interesting concepts and characters actually have some depth to them (even more in the latter), unlike in Twilight (though saying they are better than this one doesn't really say much ^^').
Also, as a classic, I would always recommend books by Agatha Christie. In my opinion she is completely deserving of being one of two legendary writers of mystery novels. One of the best of her books if 4.50 from Paddington, which is completely backwards to all other crime stories - unlike in the others, a mudrder would go undetected and a body never found, if it wasn't for somebody who had seen it happen ... So most of the book actually consists of attempts to find the body to prove to the police that there was indeed foul play involved and not just some old lady imagining stuff XD

I believe I have written REALLY a lot now ^^' But I'm afraid I'm going to add a little more, as in writing all this I finally thought of a book (actually, a trilogy) I'd consider to be my favourite at the moment - it's The Abhorsen trilogy, by Garth Nix. It consists of books called Sabriel, Lirael and Abhorsen (interesting names, aren't they?). It is set in a world that is divided in half by a wall that prevents magic from passing it. So the souther part, part where magic doesn't work, is very alike to out world, but the other one is, or, in the events preceding the first book, ruled by mages. And there is also a third realm, Death, into which necromancers can pass and bring back dead to do their bidding. The main character, Sabriel, is the only person who is both a necromancer and mage at the same time - and must keep the dead in Death, preventing them from rising. But things are even more complicted for her, as she must also fight against another, more powerful kind of black magic than the one necromancers can conjure.
In these books I really like all the in-depth developed characters, who don't act in ways a reader would consider "artificial". I also love how detailed the descriptions are, and the concept of Death as place that the dead must pass through before really finding final rest. It's not a new book by far, but I have never read any other with at least remotely similar concept, which really makes it one-of-a-kind to me :)

The Vlad Taltos series by Steven Brust. He has an amazing ability for sarcasm, evoking emotions, adventure, and plot weaving that even his older books tie into the entire universe. I love the first person and that inner voice of Vlad. He is my favorite assassin ever.

Favorite book, singular? Visark, you monster XD
Um. Airman by Eoin Colfer has a special place in my heart. It's the book I've reread a thousand times. The spine and binding of my copy exemplify that in their wear. It has sword fights and flying machines and character development, and it's just a good book in all aspects. - Lassie

My favorite book is the Circle of Magic series, because I love how well developed the characters are, and there is a different plot for each book, and each one entices me to read more. None of the characters seem unbelievable, and the story is very descriptive.

I love the book series Animorphs, especially the last one, because it is fast-paced series with action. You can call me a Sci-Fi nut. O.o.

My favorite book is battle Royale by Houshun Takami. It is a book about students who were collected by random selection to participate in a country's age old tradition of "Who can make it to the end". If you don't like gory reads, it's probably not for you, because it has a lot of death and killing, but it is also quite interesting because of that as well. It is a good read, not too hard to keep track of (quite a few characters, but the main characters are easy to spot) and the reading keeps you interested until the end! It is one of the best books I have read in a long time.

I have to be stereotypical and say The Da Vinci Code, or really anything by Dan Brown. He has to be one of my favorite authors of late, despite the fact that writes a genre that I ordinarily don't read.

My favorite book is a tie between Hemlock Grove by Brian McGreevy and A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. If you've read both of them, then you know that they are drastically different books. Hemlock Grove was dark and featured a mutant child, perhaps a vampire, and a werewolf with a twist at the end that you won't see coming. A Game of Thrones is set in the land of Westeros. There's dastardly plots, murder, whore houses, and the Imp. The Starks are all divided and fighting their battles. To tell the truth, I haven't even finished the book because it is a long read! It is still one of my favorites though! The best part of these books are that they'ver been made into TV shows. A Game of Thrones (and the rest of the series) have been made into a TV show known as Game of Thrones with three seasons so far. Hemlock Grove's TV show is on Netflix and currently has one season with a second one on the way! In short, I can't just choose one favorite when it comes to books! I highly recommend both and I guarantee you'll fall in love with at least one of them. <3

A really awesome book is called "The Slender Man" by Dexter Morgenstern. It's a really awesome book about an evil entity called "Slender Man" (feel free to google search him! :3) I think Dexter made a really awesome fiction book with the main character being very brave and trying to fight Slender Man. I like Slender Man, and I like the story Dexter made and all the characters in it. Overall, it's a really good book with a brave and actually smart main character in it (which I really like).
