@poe/hil You can see the curve of the breasts, and the v-cut trends towards the feminine. In fact the main parts of the clothing set are:

-amazingly elaborate, "soft" hairstyle
-fluffy angel wings.
-long pendant and choker combo
-mid-arm beltbangle/wristguards?
-eveningwear bathrobe and/or v-neck jacketdress
-pants

Of these, four out of six parts of the outfit fall in nicely with typical "feminine" fashion designs, in fact there's very little gender neutral about it. On the male model to make it fit in a gender neutral way they'd have to close the jacket/robe/dress, mainly. In fact if there was one thing to nudge it back to gender neutral-ish, it would be to draw in the jacketdress to make it look more like the former and less the latter, and have the thing be buttoned up. the opening on it plunges pretty deep, which you generally don't see unless the designer wants to indicate bring attention to the breasts. Because we're coded by society to think that's normal, it doesn't appear strange, but if that same cut was there on a guy, it looks odd, like "why does that guy have his jacket that open? He's gonna be cold" odd.

Meanwhile number two, while being a straight-up dress, is still one of the more final designs edging towards neutral. Slim pickings for this- and a good number of rounds in the past- but still it mostly works. firstly the fur trim is fancy dress style, but at least the length and stiffness of how it looks makes it just as suited for helping to keep someone warm. if it were positioned better, it'd be decently functional. the dress, while still a dress, draws closer to the body, but still could conceivably have an okay range of movement. The ornamentation is on the waist, which is common in both men and womens' fashion, and the hair is in a simpler style. The sleeves don't have a reveal gap on the arms- another trait that's mainly associated with womens' fashion, and most importantly- there's no plunging neckline. In fact the fur trim obscures the chest instead of heightening it.

Is there anything wrong with the angel entry? Besides it being a common theme and that we've had a ton of dress entries already, no not really. However it's not gender-neutral by a long shot and I'm not sure why this- or the aywas community- confuses you.

Honestly I voted for the last one simply because of the anatomical detailing of the wings. The only hairs I wear are the wired dreads I buy from Viridian (and if wearing the Fae skin a set of bangs so that the pointed ear isn't covered). The majority of the outfits simply do not appeal to me at all, I am very picky as to how I want things to look and layer, so I voted on the one thing that I would actually wear.

@Conium: But you thought a furlined dress was more gender neutral than this? One with skirts (typically female), bell sleeves (typically female), and a hair style that is, shock of shocks, typically female? Despite what you say, as well, the 'obi', because that is what it is, is actually FEMALE GEARED. Obis are Japanese, and male obi bear no ornamentation and are smaller in width. The entire outfit is geared towards female use. And actually, no, I still disagree. Plenty of people think open jackets are attractive on men. This entire outfit, actually was done male first to fit the male HA best and still suit most traditional roles, and then moved over to the female HA where, honestly, it looks a little wonk because it was meant to be /male./ The jacket had to be closed some because on the male HA, it was far too open for the female HA. ----> https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/87760045/Aywas%20HA/Contests/AugustSet/00CONTEST.png <-- If you look at that image, it was done up to be the fantasy style male. It was done to appeal to both men, and women, and find a balance in gender neutral. The open jacket was done so you could still wear a shirt beneath it, as I highly doubt most of the userbase will just wear a jacket out. The other thing you have to take note is that the outfit was also meant to work with /other/ items. What good is an outfit if all you can wear with it is itself?

I'm actually impressed the last one is doing so well, because I think it's a lot more traditionally masculine than normal. The furlined dress, however, is traditionally feminine. Seriously, I don't see the complaint! For once, we got a relatively gender-neutral set about to win the monthly HA contest. It may not be super traditionally masculine, but it *is* gender neutral, and much less traditionally feminine than all the other sets. How can people wanting "non-frilly" stuff be upset that the gender-neutral set is winning?

Gwennafran- I think at this point it's simply that people just like complaining. I've sat back and been quiet about it for a long time since it's all been happening over the HA clothes for the past month or two but I'm so sick of it at this point. The last set is probably *the most gender neutral* outfit on the list, probably followed by #4, magnus' set. I don't even get it anymore, it's like people are JUST complaining to complain at this point.

Also I wanted to toss in that not all clothing needs to be entirely based in reality?? I don't see why #8 is being 'judged' on having an open neckline + shoulders showing. I mean really. Fantasy clothing on a fantasy website can be, you know, fantasy? Honestly Yuu's outfit makes me think of something that Jareth from the labyrinth could end up wearing, or countless males from a wide range of animes for example. I don't see why we're trying to bring realism into a website where you can dress like the devil, several furry animals, dragons etc if you want to.

people complaining about v-cut collars on a ha base because these are feminine. meanwhile dozens and dozens of guys on this planet are dicking around in shirt with v-cut collars. amazing. complaining about having the outfit show breasts on the female ha is just as dumb - there are people who do indeed have breasts. and that is not an anatomical fact that needs to be hidden because some people are impossible to please.

to be honest the last one looks the most gender neutral to me, along with the other angel outfit. the fur trimmed one is a lot more feminine and imo doesn't look very nice on the male ha base. voting for the last one.

@Conium, do you actually not realize that a good number of men wear jackets like the last HA? Like, a lot, including myself. Yes, I do have a jacket like that. A bit shorter (or maybe I'm just taller idk) but I LOVE it! And I've seen women wear similar jackets, yes. But, quite less actually. However, it is still very gender neutral and it just fits the site, with its "fantasy-like" theme. But, I've got to say, the second entry is straight up feminine. It's a dress... If that's not geared more towards the feminine side I really don't know what is...

Also, all of the entries are nice! I really wish we could have them all *w*
