Apocalypse Hound Event Part 6

Comics

Lester reeled from pain and shock. He wanted to ask why all this was happening, but between the bullet hole in his abdomen and the knife being brandished at him by his coworker, he was at a loss for words.

"If you do a damn thing, your liver is next." Putman growled at him.

The caretaker crossed her arms. "Leave the kid, dear, we have more important things to attend to."

Putman turned around. "Of course... are you alright, my lady?" Putman asked softly, barely audible over Lester's pained gasps.

"I am. Thank you, dear." the caretaker replied.

They gazed at each other for a time before she gave him a small kiss.

Lester could hardly process what was happening at this point. It was surreal and dreamlike, watching his partner kiss the Mother Hound in a dank room of decomposing livers. His fingers twitched as he drew them away from the bleeding wound and moved them towards the gun he had dropped, only for the caretaker's heeled shoe to painfully come down on his hand.

"Mind your hands, boy, or you might lose them." she said, digging her heel into his palm as she bent over and took the gun from Lester's reach. As she took the gun into her hands, the metal withered away at her touch, as if rotting, until it was nothing but dust in her fingers.

"Prime," she said, turning her head towards Putman. "It is almost time. I have to hurry and make the preperations. I have two of brothers and sisters coming to make sure you get the job done." She spun on her heel and headed out the door.

"Wait---Magdelena, what do you mean? Do you not trust me to get the job done?" Putman replied, sounding strained.

The caretaker gave a forced smile. "I trust you, dear... but I can't take any chances this late in the game. I'm sure you understand." Lester felt the weight lift from his bruised hand as Magdelena picked up her heel and headed out the door, leaving him and Putman alone with the livers.

Putman advanced towards Lester, knife in hand.

"But... why...?" Lester wheezed, shakily propping himself up. "Why are you doing this?"

"Because," Putman replied coldly, "she is the mother of my children."

I have to agree it took slightly too long (two weeks for all would have been good imo), but that said I still think it's a lovely event and a lot of thought has been put into it. I think it's one of the better Slashbot events we've had. :)

Personally Jester, i just want the seasonal shop open so we can GET to those items, thats what ive been looking forward too this whole time. Welll, that and the pets, i adore the pets you chose. I wouldnt say it ran too long so much as made everyone antsy as there was no set end for up to prepare for, leaving us to think we had more time and didnt have to collect souls at a rapid pace.

You all forget that it was not entirely Jester's fault that the event was dragged out for so long. You know the staff has been really busy too. I don't think you all should point your fingers at her. Geez. I think it has been an amazing event. I don't mind that it was long. Thank you for organizing it, it was lovely. <:

Too bad i spent so much time collecting souls for nothing. Nuff said.

I appreciate the work that went into the event. As a writer with poor health myself, I also appreciate the difficulties Jester went through with trying to keep the story short and coherent. That being said, though, if I'd known from the beginning that the event would run this long (and was projected to run even longer) I wouldn't have participated. You can hardly blame us because we participated in an event without knowing there would be parts of it we disliked a month later. I really don't understand this overt hostility toward those who aren't completely in love with every facet of the event.

Jester, I for one have thoroughly enjoyed the event, and am glad it has been so in~depth. Seems like every event tends to be "OMGcollectallthethingsrightnoooow!" and this has been a refreshing change! THANK YOU so much for all the hard work, time, talent, and RL monies you put into it!
