Poll time!
How many of you would like explore pets to retire from their areas after a certain amount of time (available only through Truly Random Eggs, Glittering Rocks, and so forth)?
The benefit to this would be making it easier to locate new pets in the explore regions, of course, if the older ones get retired on a schedule! As well as older colorations should become more valuable.

Remove from adventure, leave them in eggs and other items. Start with tye older pets tyat everyone keep giving them away/ no one wants as a trial. Personally i votee for one year that should be long enough to capture them. And its not like the pets cease to exist they just wont be as easily obtainable.

I'd rather they not be retired, just moved to a new adventure spot or be rotated seasonally as previously suggested.
If this is about overcrowding in general, I think it's the adoption center that should be cut back on. I'm sure a lot of those pets have been rotting in there for weeks/months and older ones should be taken out of the system. Or say a max limit of 1000 pets, and any more put in auto-deletes the oldest one. Or better yet, have releasing cost less than abandoning, so people will delete more instead of pounding.

I think other options need to be considered. While I was initially on board with the idea of retiring pets, I have had some time to consider some of the consequences and it is holding less appeal and I think I need to adjust my vote. Instead, somewhere along the lines of putting pets on seasonal cycles, I wonder if it would be possible to set "Nocturnal" pets? Set some pets to only be available during the day and others at night. That way we can keep all of the pets and also make the pet pools smaller. That might also increase the appeal of finding a lair partner to compliment your own timezone/active hours. For people concerned with the prices of pets it shouldn't change too much. I believe most people would be able to Adventure during either time and for those that couldn't there would still be a steady supply of pets in the shops. I would much prefer an option like this be considered instead of this all or none decision.

Also I agree with what Malfunction just said about the adoption/abandon. One thing I might change though was instead of a pet limit maybe a time limit....maybe give each pet no more than a month up for adoption before it is removed? Though maybe this isn't the right place to start that discussion.

^ Note: Aywas doesn't want to encourage lair partners, I'm pretty sure. Putting pets on a seasonal rotation is only a temporary solution as they would eventually get up to their current problematic amount. They need to be retired eventually.

I'd like to see pets be on a rotation schedule, for 6 months, you can get X set of pets, and then the other 6, you can get Z set of pets. That way newbies won't have to be discouraged because they missed out, and they can keep their rarities.

I honestly don't want them retired BUT do see the benefit of it, and voted for one year to have lots of time and still have some rotation.
HOWEVER!!!!
I would like to see ONLY SOME rarities of pets retired. Like, 60 or 70 and lower. Orrrr, make the times staggered. Say, 10-70 stay around for one year; 80-100 stays around for 18 months or two years. Because TGRs don't help for getting those rarest pets, and while they should be valuable, it seems ridiculous that they should become as difficult to obtain as Admin Distributed pets. Explore Pets are Explore Pets for a reason; they're supposed to be forever easier than AD pets to get, right?

^Admittedly I know next to nothing about sharing a lair as it has never really appealed to me but I was always under the impression it was encouraged. So I guess I can throw that point out, but I would still hate to see a permanent retirement. I use Adventure quite often and I have definitely felt bogged down by the massive amount of pets in some of the regions so I get it...I just don't see what other good can come of this other than the crowding in the adventure regions. -sigh- I keep changing my mind about this whole thing. I'll figure out what I think eventually.

I'm not for having them removed, but if they are, i'd say they should keep their rarity so eggs are still an option. Otherwise new players and people who haven't leveled all the way yet ()me don't get left having to pay high prices.
