^ Also thought about it a sec and it's been that way since people showed so much confusion when news posts would post x date and it would be at 12am. Things changed to x date at 11:59pm to clear up the confusion. ~Ryu

Well usually meaning like, an event ends on August 24th 11:59. Generally we are given a time on the day stated as the end, and generally that time is 11:59. So by saying May 1st, I think a lot of us were under the impression that it would be 11:59 on May 1st due to the way deadlines are generally phrased on here. ~Ryu
