Custom Rules Update

Rules

magic_bluecustomcrystal.png

Hello everyone!

I'm here to tell you about a change in custom rules. And now before you raise your pitchforks, please read and hear us out.

Aywas is a pet site primarily dealing with non-human species and while we do have human avatars, we have never wanted to merge the two aspects into one. There was an exception to our "no human features" rule which was a small section that allowed "sphynx" type edits. A.k.a the Egyptian statues with the human-like face on the cat body.

In hindsight we probably should not have allowed that but as what happens on growing sites, it was allowed and originally only a few were made. But as the site grew the "sphynx" type edits grew in popularity and whenever something like that happens, people do tend to push every boundary they can and try to see what they can wiggle around with. It has become an issue that we need to address.

And you probably know what I'm leading up to, with that long introduction.
We are changing what we allow on customs on Aywas in regards to humanoid features.

For each feature we consider "human", I'll explain whether we allow it, disallow it, or will allow it in isolation.

Disallowed completely:
Human Noses
Human Ears

Allowed completely:
Eye edits
Eyebrows
Hair edits
Accessories (hats, scarves, etc.)

Allowed in isolation:
Breast edits
Abdominal muscle (abs) edits
Butt Cheek edits
Human Mouth (with lips, etc)
Human shaped head
Human-like arms and legs
Human hands
Human feet
Elf ears
Extreme clothing edits (such as pants and a shirt or a dress).

Allowed in isolation means your design or custom can only have one of those features in that list, and no more than one.

So what about those sphinx designs you have in your pocket and haven't created yet?

We want to give you a chance to submit them before the rules take full effect.
Here's how it'll work:

You have 24 hours from the time stamp on this news post to finish submitting your sphinx customs. Assuming they do not break any of the custom rules or crystal/orb/token/etc. rules that existed before this news post, they will be accepted.

All customs that are submitted after the 24 hours and break any of the above new humanoid rules will be rejected from the queue. The rules will be in full effect at that point.

Thank you for your understanding!

EDIT: We overlooked the recent USD artist event commissions. Sorry about that! We're going to still honor those commissions so long as you have them submitted by May 14th (2 weeks after the date all transactions must be fulfilled by). You'll need to PM Skitty with proof of the transaction and negotiation, which, by the rules, was logged in the thread in the forum. So just PM her the link to the thread along with the image of the design you're submitting and make sure you submit it before May 14th!

You guys are realizing that clothing is still allowed, right? Just not giant clothing edits + humanoid anatomy edits. Aside from disallowing human noses and ears, this isn't really that different than the rules were before. You can still have dogs wearing lipstick and a dress if you want, just not dogs with the muzzle sanded off and replaced with kissy human lips or dogs with a dress and breasts.

Personally, I enjoyed a lot of sphinx pets but they did get out of hand as people continued to push the boundries on them. By these rules it's actually still possible to make sphinxesque pets, you just a) can't have human noses or ears and b) can't have "sexy" kissy human lips and a human face shape at the same time. That's pretty much the only thing that's changed.

I'll probably be doing a followup news post to try and clarify things since a lot of people seem to be misunderstanding things/jumping the gun/thinking these rules are way stricter than they actually are.

Also the queue is 100% caught up right now, so if you have something waiting in the admittedly very backlogged crystal thread you can submit it there and get an accept/reject + reason for a faster response.

Thanks for clearing this up skitty. So a dress and flowy hair are still allowed?
And can you clearify when a nose counts as "human" ? Thats also pretty important.

I would love to have some clarify on those allowed and non allowed edits. :/
Like post picture of examples what is allowed and what is not allowed anymore.

Quick question: Are kimono pets still allowed?

Skitty, we get that clothing is allowed. In isolation. But why is a Sphinx pet not okay, but a topless boob pet is? Because according to these new rules, we're allowed to make pets with boobs, but we can't put a shirt or a dress on it to COVER them.

At first I was unsure about the sphinx pets being allowed, but I've grown to like them a bit. I'm glad you are updating the rules, but I can't say I agree with restriction on clothing. There's already the problem of letting naked breasts and butts on the loose, but as other people mentioned, people dress up their dogs IRL. And like Jester, I do find it strange that human faces are disallowed while it's okay to sexualize pets. I understand the need for the rules, and the sphinx pets did seem to be breaking them, but some things strike me as odd.

Ahhh disregard my comments on the clothing. I wrote this out before Skitty's comment of clarification. ^ ^;

Exactly as posted above. Specifically, why would a clothing edit not be allowed with a boob edit? Surely the site doesn't want a pet with exposed breasts running around on site. I can picture a clothing edit without a boob edit. Those have always been done. I can't picture the boob edit without something covering them. You can't exactly label a pet as mature.
