Custom Rules Update

Rules

magic_bluecustomcrystal.png

Hello everyone!

I'm here to tell you about a change in custom rules. And now before you raise your pitchforks, please read and hear us out.

Aywas is a pet site primarily dealing with non-human species and while we do have human avatars, we have never wanted to merge the two aspects into one. There was an exception to our "no human features" rule which was a small section that allowed "sphynx" type edits. A.k.a the Egyptian statues with the human-like face on the cat body.

In hindsight we probably should not have allowed that but as what happens on growing sites, it was allowed and originally only a few were made. But as the site grew the "sphynx" type edits grew in popularity and whenever something like that happens, people do tend to push every boundary they can and try to see what they can wiggle around with. It has become an issue that we need to address.

And you probably know what I'm leading up to, with that long introduction.
We are changing what we allow on customs on Aywas in regards to humanoid features.

For each feature we consider "human", I'll explain whether we allow it, disallow it, or will allow it in isolation.

Disallowed completely:
Human Noses
Human Ears

Allowed completely:
Eye edits
Eyebrows
Hair edits
Accessories (hats, scarves, etc.)

Allowed in isolation:
Breast edits
Abdominal muscle (abs) edits
Butt Cheek edits
Human Mouth (with lips, etc)
Human shaped head
Human-like arms and legs
Human hands
Human feet
Elf ears
Extreme clothing edits (such as pants and a shirt or a dress).

Allowed in isolation means your design or custom can only have one of those features in that list, and no more than one.

So what about those sphinx designs you have in your pocket and haven't created yet?

We want to give you a chance to submit them before the rules take full effect.
Here's how it'll work:

You have 24 hours from the time stamp on this news post to finish submitting your sphinx customs. Assuming they do not break any of the custom rules or crystal/orb/token/etc. rules that existed before this news post, they will be accepted.

All customs that are submitted after the 24 hours and break any of the above new humanoid rules will be rejected from the queue. The rules will be in full effect at that point.

Thank you for your understanding!

EDIT: We overlooked the recent USD artist event commissions. Sorry about that! We're going to still honor those commissions so long as you have them submitted by May 14th (2 weeks after the date all transactions must be fulfilled by). You'll need to PM Skitty with proof of the transaction and negotiation, which, by the rules, was logged in the thread in the forum. So just PM her the link to the thread along with the image of the design you're submitting and make sure you submit it before May 14th!

so the designs from GCC deal that we already have and that might violate that isolation rule - we can not make more on the same lines later? Seems to be unfair if thats the case.

I really feel like this deadline for submission should be pushed to midnight May 1st, as with the USD event there's guaranteed to be people waiting on designs. This isn't fair to the users or the artists.

Why not give it a little more time? A week or more? Also....the list of 1 off items is a tad ridiculous. I have pets with clothing and the like it just...=/

Are we allowed all of the ones in the "Allowed completely" list IN ADDITION to ONLY one from the "Allowed in isolation"? Or if we do anything in the isolation, we can't do anything else?

I don't mind this, but the only issue I have is that there are some gorgeous pets out there with:

Elf ears
Extreme clothing edits (such as pants and a shirt or a dress).

and they are animals. I would never consider them sphynxlike. I don't want to see them disappear. It would be quite sad. I also have fallen in love with many with the extreme clothes and am worried they wouldn't be breedable later with this new thing? Or will all still be breedable?

Fuzzball - yours looks like a stylized tree to me : last I heard Ents weren't considered especially humanoid, so hopefully you're cool. Vetoing/restricting clothing strikes me as a bit odd...there is a booming RL market for pet-specific clothing, humans haven't had an exclusive on that since Victorian days, lol - and if human "naughty bits" are allowed, I really think that covering options ought to be available to figleaf them. Plus here are SITE pets dressed in human clothing, and with human body traits, Are they going to be deleted? Ryu, yours sounds like a good compromise...and if existing Silvers are going to be deadended, the owners of the designs ought to have a free or discounted option to re-edit them, perhaps?

I agree that the isolated edits are a bit crazy. Only one of each? That is very limiting, and pets can be plenty "pet-like" with two or three of those edits, if not more. I also don't think that "beast edits" should be limited at all, cause they're more animal than human. I personally am wanting to make a mythical creature that has a technical "humanoid" body and technical "humanoid" extremities, but it's beast-like, so is it out of the question now?

1. There should honestly be a longer deadline. Once cannot have all the funds and maybe PSDs colored in 24 hours just for the sake of getting them all submitted. People have jobs and lives that require their attention above Aywas.
2. Although I do not quite find the appeal in Sphinx pets, I agree that some of the things listed need a lot more clarification. The whole thing about boobs and butts, but not having clothes to cover them? It makes no sense whatsoever. That needs clarification. There should also be some smaller edits that an have one or two at a time, maybe? This feels like you are completely eradication any hint of a Sphinx-type pet, when most of the traits were allowed even before they became popular.

I'm feeling kind of uncomfortable about some of the things on the Isolation list because I'm currently working on a commissoned gold level phanto and...well phantos are already pretty humanoid. Like their head is already humanoid, and I've put new line esque arms on an oldline phsnto, but would those be considered humanoid?

Where does a beak end and a beakshaed humannose start?
Maybe we instead of cutting it rough and difficult for everybody like this, maybe we should open a specific topic people have to submit their "sphinxes" to first. Like the crystal check topic they will be reviewed one by one on a fair basis.
