Rules
Hello everyone!
I'm here to tell you about a change in custom rules. And now before you raise your pitchforks, please read and hear us out.
Aywas is a pet site primarily dealing with non-human species and while we do have human avatars, we have never wanted to merge the two aspects into one. There was an exception to our "no human features" rule which was a small section that allowed "sphynx" type edits. A.k.a the Egyptian statues with the human-like face on the cat body.
In hindsight we probably should not have allowed that but as what happens on growing sites, it was allowed and originally only a few were made. But as the site grew the "sphynx" type edits grew in popularity and whenever something like that happens, people do tend to push every boundary they can and try to see what they can wiggle around with. It has become an issue that we need to address.
And you probably know what I'm leading up to, with that long introduction.
We are changing what we allow on customs on Aywas in regards to humanoid features.
For each feature we consider "human", I'll explain whether we allow it, disallow it, or will allow it in isolation.
Disallowed completely:
Human Noses
Human Ears
Allowed completely:
Eye edits
Eyebrows
Hair edits
Accessories (hats, scarves, etc.)
Allowed in isolation:
Breast edits
Abdominal muscle (abs) edits
Butt Cheek edits
Human Mouth (with lips, etc)
Human shaped head
Human-like arms and legs
Human hands
Human feet
Elf ears
Extreme clothing edits (such as pants and a shirt or a dress).
Allowed in isolation means your design or custom can only have one of those features in that list, and no more than one.
So what about those sphinx designs you have in your pocket and haven't created yet?
We want to give you a chance to submit them before the rules take full effect.
Here's how it'll work:
You have 24 hours from the time stamp on this news post to finish submitting your sphinx customs. Assuming they do not break any of the custom rules or crystal/orb/token/etc. rules that existed before this news post, they will be accepted.
All customs that are submitted after the 24 hours and break any of the above new humanoid rules will be rejected from the queue. The rules will be in full effect at that point.
Thank you for your understanding!
EDIT: We overlooked the recent USD artist event commissions. Sorry about that! We're going to still honor those commissions so long as you have them submitted by May 14th (2 weeks after the date all transactions must be fulfilled by). You'll need to PM Skitty with proof of the transaction and negotiation, which, by the rules, was logged in the thread in the forum. So just PM her the link to the thread along with the image of the design you're submitting and make sure you submit it before May 14th!

I'm not sure how this effects an existing SCC species such as the one in my icon... does that mean our entire species is now basically unable to be sold? thats a lot of wates money if it means the species is now buggered :/

I don't feel like anyone should be surprised by this change, since sphynx pets blew up in popularity so much, and we all know there's no human pets allowed. I didn't care much for them, personally. Most of them kinda creep me out, actually.
I was reading the comments and I disagree with a lot of them, kinda feel like the 24 hours is fair, but exceptions on incomplete GCC prompts and USD sales would probably be nice for people.

I really think that this is jumping the gun a bit and is truly unfair to those waiting on crystal checks or waiting on the backed-up queue. Not to mention people who cannot yet afford their crystals. I STAUNCHLY disagree with some of these things and I still believe pets should be handles on a base-by-base status... I'm sorry.... but thats why we have a check thread. elf ears i don't think count... there are tons of reasonable animal ears that you could slap an elf label on if you want to be picky... i really dont think its as fair as you're laying out.... While i agree some things need to be reigned in... this is too far....

What about uses that were sold of sphinxes? Or people who weren't here to see them become agaisnt the rules who had /bought/ uses? Or those of us stuck in finals with no time to spare to rush-job color uses we have, and then try to get the crystals to make them? one month might be more fair methinks. But, still, what happens to those uses people sold, if the person isn't around to see them become unusable? Not everyone can afford to refund, especially if a lot of them sold

Laaaame. I foresee a lot of backlash for this. Why are sphynx pets disallowed for being too humanoid, but we're 100% allowed to sexualize (boobs, lips, bedroom eyes, "sexy" clothes) pets that are otherwise -regular animals- ? I find the latter a LOT squickier than the former. Sphynx pets are popular, and people have come up with many creative variants and interpretations. There isn't really a reason for this rule aside from personal taste.

I for one am very glad that sphinx pets will stop being made, but I have to agree that the timeframe for this seems far too short for the people who were already waiting on things to be completed. Clothing being in the isolation list is also a bit worrying, though I don't really see myself wanting a custom with any of the other things in that list. (People here seem to be forgetting that many of the pets don't have bare skin, in regards to some of the things on that list, though.)

What about a 24 hour for -new- pets (aka none existed/none sold on the lines etc) and a month for pre-existing pets? This way we wouldn't have a huge explosion of new humanoid pets, but people who legitimately paid for their uses/premades would have the chance to utilize what they spent their money on? ~Ryu

I am not opposed to this rule change, but would appreciate more submission notice as I have purchased PSDs that still need coloring and creation items. I would also like to chip in that I agree with people who are asking for clarification of the "extreme clothing" rule change especially in regards to previously purchased designs. Thank you for taking any suggestions into consideration!

I'm all for sphinx pets being disallowed, but the clothing doesn't make any sense. - Azi
