Rules
Hello everyone!
I'm here to tell you about a change in custom rules. And now before you raise your pitchforks, please read and hear us out.
Aywas is a pet site primarily dealing with non-human species and while we do have human avatars, we have never wanted to merge the two aspects into one. There was an exception to our "no human features" rule which was a small section that allowed "sphynx" type edits. A.k.a the Egyptian statues with the human-like face on the cat body.
In hindsight we probably should not have allowed that but as what happens on growing sites, it was allowed and originally only a few were made. But as the site grew the "sphynx" type edits grew in popularity and whenever something like that happens, people do tend to push every boundary they can and try to see what they can wiggle around with. It has become an issue that we need to address.
And you probably know what I'm leading up to, with that long introduction.
We are changing what we allow on customs on Aywas in regards to humanoid features.
For each feature we consider "human", I'll explain whether we allow it, disallow it, or will allow it in isolation.
Disallowed completely:
Human Noses
Human Ears
Allowed completely:
Eye edits
Eyebrows
Hair edits
Accessories (hats, scarves, etc.)
Allowed in isolation:
Breast edits
Abdominal muscle (abs) edits
Butt Cheek edits
Human Mouth (with lips, etc)
Human shaped head
Human-like arms and legs
Human hands
Human feet
Elf ears
Extreme clothing edits (such as pants and a shirt or a dress).
Allowed in isolation means your design or custom can only have one of those features in that list, and no more than one.
So what about those sphinx designs you have in your pocket and haven't created yet?
We want to give you a chance to submit them before the rules take full effect.
Here's how it'll work:
You have 24 hours from the time stamp on this news post to finish submitting your sphinx customs. Assuming they do not break any of the custom rules or crystal/orb/token/etc. rules that existed before this news post, they will be accepted.
All customs that are submitted after the 24 hours and break any of the above new humanoid rules will be rejected from the queue. The rules will be in full effect at that point.
Thank you for your understanding!
EDIT: We overlooked the recent USD artist event commissions. Sorry about that! We're going to still honor those commissions so long as you have them submitted by May 14th (2 weeks after the date all transactions must be fulfilled by). You'll need to PM Skitty with proof of the transaction and negotiation, which, by the rules, was logged in the thread in the forum. So just PM her the link to the thread along with the image of the design you're submitting and make sure you submit it before May 14th!

24 hours? Seriously? That's no time at all to get designs made and custom items bought for most people. I know I have at least 2 designs that I still need colored and items bought for and I'm not going to be in tomorrow, so now I basically have these awesome .psds that I'll never be able to use. While I can understand where these rules are coming from, the "warning" time frame is ridiculously short :\

about time something like this was implemented, those were wrong in everyway....quite frankly half the stuff in the isolation category should be in disallowed completely bracket, but at least something is being done about them...

I, for one, Have no problem with the clarification of these rules. Anthros creep me out a bit anyway.

So...noses similar to that which appear on lots of species of monkeys aren't okay. But human-specific tits&ass are.
I'm honestly missing the logic here, guys. I know that it's going to be easy to dismiss a lot of the dissent to this as 'typical response to an unpopular decision but unpopular decisions still have to be made'. But really, there are far better ways this could have been implemented.

I'm going to be gone all weekend and I don't have a blue crystal yet!! I paid a whole lot for the design I have and now I won't be able to use it DDD: Can't you extend it for at least a week? What about people who won't necessarily even log in over the weekend?

I have a problem with clothes OR breasts/butts. That's what everyone who's creeped out by anthros will be calmed by, naked human t&a all over the place on your animals.
Also 24 hours? Are you going to help the artists who were paid in usd and now have to do weeks of work, or pay back money they might not have?

I'm sorry, but I cannot get over human ears and noses being disallowed, while boobs and butts (even furry ones) are okay. Like...seriously? Many "pets" on here have human characters, how is it worse to give them ears than to define a part of the body considered as sexual as the breasts/butt?

To reiterate, naked human breasts were not allowed before, are still not allowed, and will never be allowed. Curvyness added to the chest or butt is, as long as it's a) not sexual or pornographic enough to warrant an [M] and b) not accompanied by other human anatomy edits or clothing. This part of the rules is no different than before.
I'm working on a newspost that will clarify a lot of the things that are being misunderstood here. This rule update actually isn't a big change and won't effect that many customs and those that it does effect will only require a few tweaks (such as having human ears and nose changed into animal ears and nose) to be okay.

Honestly, PSDs already bought and crystal checked *Should* be allowed out of fairness to the customers who bought them. This is sort of a slap in the face.
24 hours is rather unfair. I have no other complaints as rules are allowed to be properly clarified BUT clarifying them suddenly with a time restraint AND no longer allowing what has already been told is allowed in honestly a slap in the face and technically it's like going back on a sales ad at a store.
Something considered not only a bad business practice but technically something report-able to the better business bureau.
"I bought this item and am being told I can no longer use it despite that I was told upon purchase I would have the right to."
Regardless, I'm staying up to color as many as I can. Luckily many of mine are Token pets. But it's still a bit harsh of a time limit. A week would have been short but less people would be complaining.
