Custom Rules Update

Rules

magic_bluecustomcrystal.png

Hello everyone!

I'm here to tell you about a change in custom rules. And now before you raise your pitchforks, please read and hear us out.

Aywas is a pet site primarily dealing with non-human species and while we do have human avatars, we have never wanted to merge the two aspects into one. There was an exception to our "no human features" rule which was a small section that allowed "sphynx" type edits. A.k.a the Egyptian statues with the human-like face on the cat body.

In hindsight we probably should not have allowed that but as what happens on growing sites, it was allowed and originally only a few were made. But as the site grew the "sphynx" type edits grew in popularity and whenever something like that happens, people do tend to push every boundary they can and try to see what they can wiggle around with. It has become an issue that we need to address.

And you probably know what I'm leading up to, with that long introduction.
We are changing what we allow on customs on Aywas in regards to humanoid features.

For each feature we consider "human", I'll explain whether we allow it, disallow it, or will allow it in isolation.

Disallowed completely:
Human Noses
Human Ears

Allowed completely:
Eye edits
Eyebrows
Hair edits
Accessories (hats, scarves, etc.)

Allowed in isolation:
Breast edits
Abdominal muscle (abs) edits
Butt Cheek edits
Human Mouth (with lips, etc)
Human shaped head
Human-like arms and legs
Human hands
Human feet
Elf ears
Extreme clothing edits (such as pants and a shirt or a dress).

Allowed in isolation means your design or custom can only have one of those features in that list, and no more than one.

So what about those sphinx designs you have in your pocket and haven't created yet?

We want to give you a chance to submit them before the rules take full effect.
Here's how it'll work:

You have 24 hours from the time stamp on this news post to finish submitting your sphinx customs. Assuming they do not break any of the custom rules or crystal/orb/token/etc. rules that existed before this news post, they will be accepted.

All customs that are submitted after the 24 hours and break any of the above new humanoid rules will be rejected from the queue. The rules will be in full effect at that point.

Thank you for your understanding!

EDIT: We overlooked the recent USD artist event commissions. Sorry about that! We're going to still honor those commissions so long as you have them submitted by May 14th (2 weeks after the date all transactions must be fulfilled by). You'll need to PM Skitty with proof of the transaction and negotiation, which, by the rules, was logged in the thread in the forum. So just PM her the link to the thread along with the image of the design you're submitting and make sure you submit it before May 14th!

Do human limbs and human hands mean like...well human limbs is pretty obscure considering all mammals share the same basic limb structure, does human limbs mean fleshy and flesh toned, cause smack some hair on a human arm and you've got either a very hairy person or a monkey. And what about clawed "hands" or the phanto/simii hands are still worrying me because if you change them and make them hold something or w/e are they now considered human?

Naked human breasts with nipples still aren't okay. They never were and never will be. Furry chest lumps to make a pet more "feminine" or whatever are still fine though as long as they're not coupled with other human anatomy edits or with full-body clothing. A simple band or something to cover it would probably be fine, just not a full dress or a shirt + pants. That section could definitely use some clarification, that was admittedly an oversight.

And yes, dresses + flowy hair are still allowed. Dresses + flowy hair + lipstick on the pet's normal muzzle are still allowed. You just can't redraw the pet's face to be a flat human one with a mouth that looks like this while also giving the pet a body-obscuring gown.

so is hair + clothing ok then?

@Skitty - I think what people are boggling about in terms of clothing edits is that, per the isolation lists, is that you can give your pet breasts, but not clothes to cover said breasts up with. For the record, I've always thought that boob-pets were kind of ridiculous, so I'm not really up in arms about that myself. I understand that you might want to move away from busty barmaid-type pets, but it's still listed in a very awkward way.

Personally, the only thing I'm finding an issue with is that elf ears are on the isolation list as well. Elves and fairies aren't human, and pointed ears are an animal trait regardless. I really don't understand why they're not on the completely allowed list, and I wouldn't mind getting your reasoning on that one.

Please DO do the follow-up post, because, as useful as this post is, it could do with additional clarification (for the record, I don't mean that as a criticism against Kyu & Mauri. They did a good write-up on this).

Also please consider either extending the grace period, or allowing for people with already-created/purchased .psds/people whose pets are still in the crystal check thread/etc. to get their pets through. A lot of people are probably still trying to save for the right custom creator to get their pet created with..

I have never had a pet like that but still think the whole 24 hours to get them in is a little rough. Some people can't afford the custom making items and spent money on a design they really loved. It should at least be a couple of weeks or month to turn them in.

@Skitty - WHOOPS you just answered the boobs & coverings thing while I wrote my tl;dr. Thanks on that. :3

ahhhhhh ^^ Thank you so much, skitty! You clarify a lot and whipe away a lot of fears.
Just remaining the "nose" definition on my side. Like... the way I draw "noses" they look like this: > or 7 are those "facehooks" how my friend uses to call em, disallowed? Or only those that look full formed and round like ... well... human noses

Would these rules (especially the nose) effect this pet:

He's a scandinavian troll that I received during the GCC event and I want to do a few more of them.
